"In a move that would be truly bizarre, were it not par for the recent course, the former governor of Illinois has invited the cast of Second City's "Rod Blagojevich Superstar," a merciless spoof of the disgraced politician's recent shenanigans, alleged and otherwise, to appear with him on the radio.
The real Blago is hosting the morning drive show on WLS-AM radio between 7 and 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning. On the guest list for the eight o'clock hour, as confirmed Tuesday morning: the fake Blago, as played by Joey Bland.
He'll be joined by the fake Roland Burris, the fake Lisa Madigan and the fake Dick Mell. The musical first opened in early February on the Second City e.t.c. stage and draws on the taped antics of the former governor, his famous wavy locks, his media tour.
Perhaps they will perform one of the show's signature numbers, replete with the line "Rod Blagojevich Superstar / Are you as nuts as we think you are?""
