Anchorman Stars Meet To Discuss Possible Sequel

We’ve been hearing about a possible Anchorman sequel for the last year. Most of the original cast members and creative team have expressed interest in making a sequel, but with the popularity of the film’s three main stars on the rise, I’ve pessimistically ruled it off as a possibility.

    • I ate a big red candle!

Why make a sequel? Why not make a new film with the same hilarious team or actors and writers? WHAT'S WITH THE CONSTANT FLOW OF REMAKES AND SEQUELS?! Ahem. Rant over.

    • Ferrell, Rudd and Carrell reuniting would be the best comedy of next year easily. Anchorman is a perfect blend of character comedy work and improvisation that hit all the markers for me personally.

    • When watching the first instalment I couldn't help thinking the about the endless fun these guys must have had sitting round thinking up silly character names and gags about aftershave. And the I wondered how close to their characters these actors really are? Bring on the sequel I say.

Thanks for sharing James, nice find.

    • So because Anchorman 2 will probably have half of the original actors and a poor script, does that mean Will Ferrel will say all his jokes twice as loud to make up for it?

    • The thing about Anchorman is that it was hilarious, but it was hilarious because it was the first comedy of its time. It combined stupid humor, nonsequitors, improvisation, and Will Ferrel as a crazily naive and ignorant character.

Unfortunately, they took this mode and ran with it, and gave us garbage like Talladega Nights and Semi-Pro, which I won't watch even though Woody Harrelson is in it. They've kinda ruined that type of humor and I cringe now even if someone quotes Anchorman. I just think this style has been beaten to death, and it'd take a hell of a lot of effort and concentration to produce a script and production that would do justice to the original.

And Steve Carell blew up like woah after Anchroman. After the original he began doing the Office and then 40 Year Old Virgin, and everyone and their mothers knew who he was. The original was back when he was the guy from the Daily Show, and they didn't mind casting him in a secondary role. It'd be interesting to see an interpretation of Brick after he's been Michael Scott and... well, whoever he was in the 40 Year Old Virgin.

    • I would be soooo so interested to see a sequel! But would be sooooo so dissapointed if it was rubbish. It would have to be...amazing or there's maybe no point

    • I quite enjoyed the first one, but I think it's one of those films that a sequel would just take away from the original.

Why can't they just leave a film as a successful film and not try and cash in on it by making it into a trilogy or something similarly ridiculous.

maybe you're right; but, if the second one isn't that great, we can still enjoy the first one. we'll just act like the sequel never happened. kinda like when MJ played with the wizards; nobody really cares about that comeback, we care about his legendary time w/the bulls.

i know, comparing MJ to Anchorman, bad. its just an analogy.
