A Banksy has gone for £1,600 ($2629.91) after it was delivered to an art festival host’s door.
And while £1,600 ($2629.91) might seem a bargain price for a work by the artist whose pieces have gone for hundreds of thousands of pounds, bear this in mind – it’s still just a log of wood.
On Friday, an anonymous donor in cap and sunglasses delivered a log of wood signed by Banksy to Miller’s house in Somerset.
Once verified, the Banksy was saved from the flames and sold to Annette Veikkanen of Bristol.
Martin Miller, an antiques collector, offered bidders the chance to save the art from the bonfire during a charity auction, which raised over £4,500 for Nordoff Robbins Trust.
About half of the 95 artworks – modern pieces brought along by guests – were condemned by the crowd who jeered “Burn it!” as the works were thrown on the fire.
“Everything not sold was hung on a giant frame as an installation. Then we doused it with petrol and lit it,” says Miller.

How do they check the authenticity of that? Surely anyone could make that template and spray paint themselves a couple of thousand pounds windfall onto a log?
