Family Guy lands Emmy nomination for Best Comedy Series

Creator Seth MacFarlane opts to enter "Family Guy" for an outstanding comedy Emmy instead of the animated category where "The Simpsons" and other shows typically compete. "Family Guy" made it to the 10 finalists on the category last year but missed the final cut, and might have been one of the beneficiaries of the TV Academy's decision to expand the number of nominees in the main categories from five to six.

I've said it once I'll say it again. This can get nominated but Battlestar Galactica can't? BSG was the best thing on air for two years running and it embarassed the networks, period.

In its recent years, I haven't been much of a fan of FG.
I loved Family Guy in it's 3 seasons and enjoyed the 4th season when it came back on the air, but I felt that soon after the episodes just relied more heavily on the use of obscure 80's references that some of the audience would recognize, or just overall having a "Remember the time when...[flashback]" kind of thing. It's just not that funny anymore in my opinion. - 2 years ago
