Which is why this story and most celeb PR exercises, no matter how well drafted, often miss the main point: It’s only the genuine slip-ups and embarrassments that leeches like Darryn Lyons and tabloid editors are interesting in publishing because they know that today’s reader is fully aware what’s been staged and what hasn’t. I had so much fun reading the media analysis after the Bruno / Eminem incident at the MTV awards. People seem so anesthetised by PR shock tactics - I wouldn’t be surprised if agents soon began to fake hostage takings or deaths in the hope of raising compassion those desperate in showbiz.
