The author of the "Twilight" series is being sued by a woman who claims the 4th installment is a rip-off of her work.

Jordan Scott claims in her lawsuit, filed today in federal court, that she began writing a novel "in the vampire genre" when she was just 15 -- back in 2003.

    • Psh... the link is from TMZ and they'll report anything whether it's true or bull.

This girl doesn't have a case... There are half-a-million vampire stories circulating the world and others are bound to draw at least a few comparisons...

Maybe after this failed lawsuit, she can try to sue the Bram Stoker estate for thinking of the modern vampire concept before her...

There are better Horror/Fantasy series out there, like World of Watches tetralogy by Sergei Lukyanenko or the series that True Blood is based on The Southern Vampire Mysteries by Charlaine Harris.

Hell, True Blood is for adults

      As Twilight is for kids

    • I don't care if the woman suing Meyer wins or loses. The charge of plagiarism will stick with Meyer for the rest of her career. Stephenie Meyer is a two-bit hack anything that hurts her undeserved reputation is a good thing. Really, what can it say about her work if even Stephen King thinks it's terrible.

    • yyyyeaaaahhhh....this one's just not gonna fly. Guess which one is going to have the better laywers anyway? Multi-millionare superstar or wannabe writer?

Besides, even if she does lose she can take the hit and her fans probably wont care considering how hardcore they seem to be.

    • I have no love for Stephanie Meyer, but the case sounds pretty weak.

"-- Both books contain a post-wedding sex scene
-- Both books contain a scene about a woman who's sick because she's carrying a child with "evil powers"
-- Both books contain a scene with the death of the main character's wife"

A post-wedding sex scene? Isn't that a given? The second plot point occurred in Rosemary's baby, and elsewhere I'm sure. The third is just a cliche to give motivation to brooding action heroes.

    • Funny though, it seems writers don't do stuff like this UNTIL they become famous.

They get stuck with writers block, the pressure is on, and they crack under the pressure and who's right there but a young author looking for notes or encouragement.

Remember the movie Deathtrap with Chirs Reeve and Michael Caine? Same thing.

And yes, it happens in real life all the time.

But a devout LDS church member wouldn't steal a kid's work, would she?

      WOULD SHE?
