I kind of wish Sen. Barack Obama would've had the cajones to do the same thing when Bush was in office. I would've voted for him immediately. Do you think he would have done it if he knew it would save over 200,000 human lives? That would make him a real man in my eyes. Would you give up the presidency to save lives?

the point of the question was that i wish Obama or any other senator for that matter, would've caused the same type of disruption and disrespect that Wilson did to Bush about the war. Votes don't mean SHIT just look at the 2000 election.

You have to ask yourself upon reading J. Wilson's comment...Was he talking about health care or racism? And I quote: "When we are done here today," said Wilson, "we will not have taken any further steps toward helping" America solve its problems. "It is time that we move forward and get back to work for the American people."

This is presenting a problem with the two-party system. He will be running against a Democrat for re-election. Some may not like him for his outburst, but would prefer him over the Democrat. So essentially, they would have to vote for someone they don't necessarily like.
If his congressional race was four-way, with say, two conservatives and two liberals with slightly varying positions, it would be another story.
The lesser of two evils is still evil.

Every one is entitled to their own opinion, and to voice it, but there is a time and place for everything. I mean this isn't the school yard people. Though I did hear that at the recesses the republicans get together for some kick ball and the democrats have a serious hand ball tournament going on.

Play the race card, Granny! To folks like you, dissent equals racism. Disagree with Obama? You're a racist. Back in the days when I was a democrat, if you disagreed with the president, you were excercising your free speech rights. Now, if you disagree, you're being a racist. I never thought leftist could be so damned stupid and closed minded.

Which is it? Does dissent equal racism, or does dissent equal patriotism? The former is hilariously absurd, the latter is speaking with reason and intelligence. Mr. Wilson dissented, but he did it in a way that brought reproach upon himself, and make him look like a fool. He apologized for his stupidity- he apologized to the man who drew his wrath- Obama. What more can be done? He apologized. End of story. Not so fast there, pal. The democrats want to see him drawn and quartered. This horse is dead and buried- so why do they insist on digging it up and flogging it? Let it go, people..........

The man worked with Strom Thurmond, I wouldn't be surprised if he was a racist. Especially since he spends 100% of his time whining about illegal immigration.
That being said, Rethugs are the ones who have dominated the issue with the race card. All they've been doing to try to excuse his rude outburst is fake outraging over the claims of racism.
And that being said, this act by the house is a fucking waste of time.

Only religious zealots and right wing whack jobs would accuse someone of wanting to be a Messiah. The terminolgy is inaccurate and inappropriate. Second, Mr. Wilson has the right to free speech, however, he is also a US Senator. As such, it is expected he would show some DIGNITY AND CLASS in public. Instead we are treated to a display that is more appropriate to the Jerry Springer show than a live presidential speech. In addition, he was WRONG. He accused Obama of lying about the fact that undocumented aliens would not be eligible to receive health care, but if he READ THE FUCKING BILL he would have discovered that it clearly stated that undocumented aliens ARE NOT eligible to recieve government health benefits.
What is wrong with you people?? Obama is trying to pass a government health care bill that will force insurance companies to think twice before they try to screw people like YOU with a rate increase. If you so choose you can keep your private plan and continue to allow private health insurers to rape you financially, that will continue to be your priviledge. Yet folks like you have the gaul to accuse him of being a socialist!!
Let me ask you something-will you be eligible for SS and Medicare when you get older? Do you drive on good roads, recieve the benefits of a strong defense and protection of the CIA, NSA and FBI? Are your bank deposits insured by the FDIC, does the EPA protect your environment, does money spent on the Consumer Protection Agency and the Labor Department protect you? Will NOAA predict your weather or warn you if a tornado or hurricane is coming your way. Did you recieve a decent public education? If you accepted any of these benefits (in addition to hundreds more funded by the federal government) then by you're definition you are a socialist AND a hypocrite by my definition. Do you think conservatives and their enablers, FOX "News", Limbaugh, Hannity and Beck would be screaming and yelling about this health reform if McCain was president and trying to pass an identical bill??? Do you understand now why people see conservatives and nothing but racists? Get a life.

except bush WAS a traitor and broke the law invading a sovereign nation that was not a threat to us and never even declared war. 5000 dead on our side, many more wounded or maimed, 250,000 (at least) dead civillians over there, and we've dumped enough DU on their country between the 2 gulf wars that they're already having funny looking kids (a gross understatement there are some horrific deformities there) Barack Obama tries to pass a health care bill, and you're comparing him with the worst president ever? sheesh.

nephrack -- im NOT defending bush but that is the biggest load of NPR propaganda i've read in a long time.
Bush did not break the law by going into iraq as we had already beat sadaam in the first gulf war. Sadaams failure to abide by the surrender agreement he signed subjected him to a further ass whipping. There was no sovereign iraq as we beat them and could have taken their country back then but we didn't, we were mercifull.
We killed relatively few of sadaams men the second time we went in, they were easily beat(in battle terms).
Most of the dead and wounded have been caused by religious insurgents, and bombers sent in by other countries. Long story short, your post is not correct as everything was "legal". I guess your either too young to see the whole picture or you just read or watch to much b.s. - 2 years ago

guess you've never taken a political science class montesooma. 'we' broke international law by not declaring war. bush's daddy declared war, at least he had the sense to cover his own ass. there was no breach of any "surrender agreement" as we never (and independent inspectors never) found any weapons of mass destruction
wait a sec...i have to quote you on this... prepare for humiliation...
" There was no sovereign iraq as we beat them and could have taken their country back then but we didn't, we were mercifull."
so we owned iraq after the first gulf war? that is probably some of the most ignorant crap i have ever heard spewed on this perfectly good website. true, saddam and the bush family were in bed, just like the bush family were/are in bed with the saudibinladin group, we were "mercifull?" fuck you. i lost too many friends and family who were in the armed forces during bush 2's little adventure to ever believe we were merciful.
do you mean the lancet propaganda or Johns Hopkins propaganda? you can't even spell saddam right. i'm guessing the red cross , Johns Hopkins, and the UN weapons inspectors are all wrong, and the almighty shrub was right? go sit in the corner Montezuma. that's the correct spelling BTW. i don't consider "smart" bombs that can hit a door handle, but take out a city block humane. can you even tell me what DU means? can you? over a million dead, and no provocation. justify your patriotism any way you want, doesn't change a thing.
keep watching fox news.
i'll look forward to mentally and verbally eviscerating you at every chance i get."patriotism is the virtue of the vicious."

He may be a racist, but that is not the issue, it is his conduct.
And many in the Congress thought the same of Bush but did not yell it out in public on national Television. If they had done that, it would be equally as bad.America is turning into a trash country with people who just scream at eachother instead of debating.

First, many of Obamas opponents ARE liars. Still, if he accused them of being liars, it was as a group, not an individual; big, big, difference. Second, the "reason" Wilson called him a liar was 100% wrong. Wilson claimed that illegal immigrants would be able to recieve health care and the health care reform bill specifically stated they would not. So here you have a member of Congress called the POTUS a liar on live TV during a speech and he was wrong. Thats what you call making an ass of yourself. The only thing Wilson left out of his outburst was the word "boy". If Obama was white, this NEVER would have happened.
