THE home-grown English indie music scene has the Baybeats festival and now the Chinese scene has the Indie Hooray! concert.

It is the brainwave of singer-songwriter Yet Dunhong. The 31-year-old says: 'There aren't many places for us to promote and perform our music. I wanted to create a general platform so that every year, there would be at least this showcase for local indie Chinese music.'

The show takes place at the atrium of the Mica (Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts) Building on Sunday. Yet will be performing with Easy Band and has invited fellow artists Lizz Liang, Matthew Quek and five-member group RazzlePlay to take part. The lack of venues was a problem that he encountered when he was promoting his debut album Crazy Yet, which was released in September last year.
