Pac was and is the greatest hip hop/rapper, entertainer of all time. Don't get it twisted, most of the "thug" life you know, was entertainment.... that's all!

I must admit that I prejudged a little, but here's what I found:
-"In 1992, a Texas state trooper was killed by a teenager who was listening to 2Pacalypse Now which included songs about killing police."
-"The child had been the victim of a stray bullet in a shootout between Shakur's entourage and a rival group, though the ballistics tests proved the bullet was not from Shakur or any members of his entourage's guns."
-"He also wrote a screenplay titled Live 2 Tell while incarcerated, a story about an adolescent who becomes a drug baron."
-"The record was a general departure from the introspective subject matter of Me Against the World, being more oriented toward a thug and gangsta mentality."
-"Throughout his career, an increasingly aggressive attitude can be seen pervading Shakur's subsequent albums."
I just read up on him, yes, he might have been a voice for the "poor in urban areas and all the nonsense" through his flashy rapping, but like I said, just ANOTHER negative (although his 1st album was positive and socially conscious) flashy street clown who done more bad than good unfortunately. His environment owned him, in stead of the other way around. I am impressed by his education and early life. What part is wrong?
In summation, he was talented, educated, unique, a game changer, but promoted a negative way of life more than the good way, which was what did him in. Don't get it twisted, he can't be just classified as just good or bad. And yes, I used to listen to many of his tracks.
By the way, you are what you eat and you are what you listen to!

Tupac was a poet, a great one. He was not just "some Rapper". His work wasn't conventional, that doesn't mean it wasn't legitimate.
William Yeats is one of my favorite poets and he was a white man from Ireland . I'm not white or a man or from Ireland, yet i can appreciate and relate to his work. Just because you're white or didn't grow up in the hood or whatever does not mean you can't appreciate and relate to someone's work because they're superficially different from you.

ya, pac was a GREAT poet and mind, but he swam in the ghetto thug lifestyle which is counter productive to anything.
i don't recall other great poets talking/rapping about killing, drugs, and hoes.
pac wore many hats, that's for sure.

DAMN I can't believe all the disrespect towards Tupac I see! Do you guys realize that he changed hip hop? That he redefined poetry? That he was an American writer who reached millions of people?
"u need to upgrade your idols mo foz!" Are you kidding? That's exactly the point- our idols HAVE BEEN updated. They are teaching Tupac lyrics in English classes! (http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2003/jan/20/usa.arts)
"Than i realized i was white and was never going to make a million dollars from selling crack."
Tupac isn't known for selling crack, he's known for rising above that lifestyle and making his art his life.
GET IT STRAIGHT HATERS! More than a decade later we are discussing his writing and now they are preserving that legacy. Tupac was an artist and an activist who changed America. What have you done lately?

Why? What does it matter. None of this matters, Tupac did not change anything. My favorite artist haven't changed anything. What is basically and fundamentally wrong with humans cannot be fixed. Oh, and RACIST!
