"Thrill the World" Dancers Transform Into Zombies to Reanimate Thriller in Texas!

By 6:45 Saturday night, I finally had my roar turns down pat. But that air-guitar-tick-tock move was still not quite there. Thankfully, about 300 zombies surrounded me, all quite helpful despite the rotting flesh, oozy wounds and various implements of death – a scalpel here, an ax there – protruding from necks and heads.

Saturday was the culmination of my experience as a "Thriller" dancer with Hangman's House of Horrors in Fort Worth for the worldwide "Thrill the World" event. We tried Saturday to help set a Guinness World Record for simultaneous dancing to a single song, with a projected total of 270,000 dancers from Australia to Pakistan to Venezuela taking part. The Guinness results won't be released for several months.

My zombification began Oct. 17, when I attended a three-hour workshop at Hangman's to learn the steps to Michael Jackson's monster hit. None of the moves is particularly difficult – after a couple of hours, we all felt pretty smug and confident. Then we found out we'd been dancing at half the normal speed. Oops.
