PETA passes out McCruelty meals to kids

-

The “Unhappy Meal” is a part of PETA’s McCruelty campaign, which is meant to warn children about the cruelty that PETA says is behind every Happy Meal. From animal cruelty to manipulating advertising that targets children, the charges that PETA is accusing McDonald’s of are expressed through this mock meal. According to Slashfood.com, PETA discontinued campaigns like the McCruelty one for the past nine years because it was working with McDonald’s behind the scene.
Each “Unhappy Meal” consists of an image of a knife wielding Ronald McDonald, pictures of mutilated chickens, a “blood” stained Happy Meal box and a complementary T-Shirt that reads “Chicken McCruelty.” A parent told a local news station that she felt what PETA was doing was unfair to children and young people shouldn’t be exposed to the messages that PETA is trying to get across.

Why would so many of you be against this? I don't think it's smart to keep children so shielded from the real world. The earlier they learn, the better they'll be able to handle it when they're kicked out of the nest.
Perhaps if people knew the truth about how their food was produced they'd think twice about just grabbing anything to shove in their mouths, and instead would prepar meals themselves and eat as fresh of food as possible.
How many of you know that cow shit is a regular ingredient in the beef you buy at McDonalds or any other fast food restaurant (otherwise known as e.coli)? How many of you know that the reason you may be fat is because of the growth hormone they inject cows with in addition to feeding them an unnatural diet of corn with "naturally" puts on weight. Corn is not a vegetable, it's a GRAIN. Corn is the major cause of obesity in our society because so much of it is consumed in processed form (high fructose corn syrup). When we were all eating regular sugar which isn't good either, but not as bad as HFCS, we didn't have anywhere near as many problems with obesity.
Also cow's milk is designed for calves not humans. Meaning it's designed to fatten up a calf quickly, but this is not a good idea for humans. It's also the cause of acne and premature adolescence. I was able to ejaculate at age 11, and some guys I've met said they could achieve ejaculation before age 11
You people remind me of the PETA commercial that was banned for Thanksgiving.
It's interesting how when it comes to certain subjects, people would rather stay in the dark and hear what they want to hear

While I would have to say this is a rather clever idea — I'm not sure that this would ever be that effective since parents are just going to get insanely pissed off. I mean, come on, they're just kids that you are handing this stuff too.

PETA has always been radical , this is not new . What would be new , is if people thought about how what they eat impacts the world and their own bodies . It isn't just you . PETA is trying to shake people out of their complacency . Junk food isn't just junk anymore , it is poison . With a really great and totally deceitful marketing .

Unbelievable. Targeting children in a shock format is inappropriate and will only distance people from the potentially good work that PETA could be making. If they had simply focused on the parents, not the children, this could have been a very successful campaign. Instead, they essentially did the same thing they accuse McDonalds of doing, manipulating children...

Parents are the ones to be blamed not the kids.
I see them bringing their three or four year old child to eat that disgusting garbage camouflaged with colors, balloons, smiles and happy playgrounds.
They need to be informed, educate their children about this dangerous "food".I am not sure about PETA but what I know is that this will only bring people to hate any organization that tries to inform and promote people's health.
With this kind of action you get the reverse effect, mcdonalds now will look like a poor victim of such a "slander" and PETA is the evil monster.
More free advertising for mcdonald on top of it.That is certainly the wrong approach.
And to humanpasta:
You said that "crazy chicken killing clown drawing isn't going to 'traumatize' your child any more than the violent action movie..."You are correct by implying that violent movies are bad but these won't make it all right for children to get traumatized by this kind of message.

PETA needs to grow up. plain and simple. And to whoever it was up there (iloveravi) who says that if you eat meat your an idiot, I have a few things for you to consider. First of which is, where the hell do you come off with that kind of statement? if you eat meat you're stupid, thats as dumb as saying any racist comment you can imagine. Secondly, if vegetarians are so much smarter than meat eaters, why haven't you all gotten together and solved all of our problems already? You're smarter than us, so you should be able to trick us into letting you run things. And lastly, and this is directed to iloveravi in particular, you are a fool for thinking that what PETA does in anyway is admirable, intelligent, or ethical. Not one of their practices, tactics or messages are acceptable, especially because they have done literally nothing to better the world in the way they say they will.

It's really such a shame how much people hate PETA. They are doing good by trying to make the mass millions aware about the horrible disgusting animal cruelty most of us eat every day. Would we all beat our dogs, force them to live in horribly painful and uncomfortable conditions their entire life, and then just kill them and EAT them. the thing about PETA is, they are a huge organization, and you'd think they'd have someone in charge saying "we have a good message, but paint and scarring kids is bad". but no, they do completely radical things that don't aid anyone, except the people looking to get more ammunition against PETA.and if anything, those kids are going to be afraid that ronald mcdonald is going to kill THEM when they go there to eat. its not going to connect that the thing the knife is being used on, is the delicious chickey nuggets.

The last few comments stink of PETA apologists trying to convince people this was an acceptable action. Sorry, but photoshopping Pennywise's face onto Ronald McDonald's body and passing out these boxes to kids is not cool or helpful in any way. I bet it will make these kids think, which is a good thing. It will also make the parents have to confront serious issues with their children. Their might be a better way to go about it, but I don't see this as bad for the children. Understandably, their will be some adults outraged, mostly by the cognitive dissonance these meals bring about. It seems that when people can not refute an idea logically they resort to outrage.

Action = violence, fat = health issues, sex = love, education = intelligence. buuttt...we will choose the first two because they are easier or are part of our culture.

PETA is the worst. Their obvious intentions are only to draw attention to themselves. Disregarding their intent, the ethics are lacking. You can't advocate ending the exploitation of on species while exploiting another to get your message across. Scaring children and making them feel guilty is such a low thing to do. PETA has become radicalized. They have to realize that there can be ways of fighting animal cruelty and fighting for animal rights without demonizing something that humans have been doing for millions of years or treating it as unnatural, because when they do they immediately lose alot of supporters.
I'll support the protection of wild cougars, humpback whales, bald eagles, the killing of polar bear mothers, etc.... but when you start telling everyone that they are evil for eating a burger then I'm sorry, but you lost my support...

i respect animals, my totem is coyote. i have killed and eaten animals and for me it is difficult. bear tastes bad, like old pork and the grease stinks. snake is sort of like fish but i'd rather have a mouthful of crickets. we are very much like bear with our palates; mostly veggy, some meat. our closest relatives, the chimps, snack all day on veggys but when they kill a rival gang member or monkey, they have a formal quiet meal with their significant others. they do this without cutlery,of course, pulling apart and biting off muscle and fat, chewing carefully. nature is sharp of tooth and death is followed by being devoured, except in the twisted human burial practices. humans are selfish with their flesh, unwilling to even feed themselves to their pets. we go so far as to contaminate our meat with formaldhyde, so the worms are thwarted. at every turn, humans have lost touch with our natural place in the great circle.

"Young people shouldn't be exposed to the messages that PETA is trying to get across."
Yes, let's allow our young people to continue eating food that causes them to blow up to whale-sized proportions, created by literally torturing animals in blissful ignorance. Because it's obvious that's what the rest of adult America wants to do, and exactly why people "hate" PETA so much. PETA holds up the mirror of the reality of the meat and dairy industries and it offends Americans because they don't want their ways of life to be changed or challenged in any way. It's hilarious that a woman would feed her child a chicken whose beak was cut off, and scalded alive and then complain that PETA is "exposing" her child to terrible images...parents shove these "terrible images" down their obese children's throats in the form of fast food. If you're bothered by PETA images, become a vegetarian. Or at the very least, realize you're bothered because you just want to keep stuffing your face with bacon cheeseburgers, regardless of where they come from or what they do to your fat ass.

It isn't the PETA aspect to me. McDonalds is just bad because the food is horrible. I think PETA goes way too far but I have to admit that the McCruelty meals are pretty cool looking. I would not mind getting one.
I just don't think they should be given to children. Clowns are scary enough without brandishing knives.

"Clowns are scary enough without brandishing knives" - so true.
I personally find it more disturbing that they use their budget on these scare tactics rather than trying to find homes for or rehabilitate animals that they "rescue". As for the claims that the animals are too physically damaged or unable to be socialized, I'm not buying it. I know of a place just outside of Atlanta that takes in injured and sick wild animals and cares for them. My next door neighbor is a physically handicapped elderly lady who works part-time and still runs a shelter for feral cats out of her home. She socializes them, gets their shots, spays/neuters, and finds them homes. Do these people have budgets of over $30 million a year? Hardly. It's all politics when it comes to big groups like PETA.

I'm not wasting 10 minutes of my life watching that nonsense. Does the video bring up their donation to ALF, a terrorist organization? Does it mention that PETA has been associated with violent action against private citizens? Does it talk about how those fucking nutcases think seeing-eye dogs need to be banned? Does it discuss how PETA-funded action has included setting off time-delay bombs designed to spray shrapnel at emergency personnel?
They are fucking NUTS, and should be imprisoned for their crimes.
