Now, we can make light of this incident because all 117 passengers and crew walked away from the crash largely unharmed. The only real casualty was the captain's ego, although I think he's probably the talk of the terminal this morning.
I mean come on—lava!

No, there was no molten lava. It was just "cold" lava that had already hardened and looked like asphalt. This story was blown way out of proportion.

have you ever trekked on a dry lava fiald - it is sharp! like walking on dark shiny sparkly broken glass and metal. Surprised the plane did not get torn like the top of a sardine can.

He crashed landed in a lava field, which is lava that has solidified into rock. If he had landed in actual lava the outcome, obviously, would have been completely different. Its a dramatic headline but misleading.
