@Vierotchka
you DO realize,.....this is funny?
note---------I virtually always agree with you,....but this,.....I think humor TRUMPS "nose to the grindstone,...fight that war" heckle.
p.s.---------I really would have loved to see that "comparison /contrast -belief systems" in college,.....A LOT! THAT would be good exercise. - 2 years ago

from what little i have read so far in related articles, it doesn't appear as though they will be "preaching" the bible (or other religious texts) to students:
"The Bible, which will be introduced in the ninth grade when students delve into the history of Western civilization, will be taught for its literary and historic qualities and as part of a secular education program. ... Academy founder Isaac Moffett said the Bible is one of many historical religious texts from which students will read. Others include the Quran and the writings of Confucius."
further: "The U.S. Supreme Court, in a 1963 ruling that banned ceremonial school Bible readings, said "the Bible is worthy of study for its literary and historic qualities" so long as material is "presented objectively as part of a secular program of education.""
i would have to see the lesson plans to know exactly how the texts would be used in the classroom to make a better judgment of how they are being used... but so long as no religious belief is being taught as truth ("presented objectively" as it were), i don't believe i would have a problem with it.

Agreed. It's good to know about more than just whatever beliefs your family has raised you with.

Debriconcita, please show me where in the US Constitution is God mentioned, where in the Constitution is there the word "God".

Why not, I don't see a problem. If the constitution was written and signed with the understanding of God fearing people in this Country is based on. This should be one of the top books they should be using all along! (Edited) I thought that it was in the constitution, I am wrong, I just read it over, I know they swear on a stack of Bible's though, and on the money it say's "In God We Trust". I got confused, the declaration of Independence makes reference's to the bible, so does the constitution!
