    • Lie=Impossible. The above video is from decades ago and George Carlin died 8 months before Obama won the prize. Carlin was a fan of Obama and would have voted for him if he had lived long enough to do so.

    • carlin was a master teacher, he advanced american thought. he and gallager used the same technique of teaching advanced thought and reward. carlin didn't need props to entertain us and we were rewarded with feeling smarter by listening to him.

    • Unimatrix0 has totally missed the plot on this post, George Carlin's a legend, but here he's ranting about G.W. Bush and co. When will people start educating themselves? Eh?

    • George Carlin's words resonate strongly today more than ever because he is pointing out the asininity of all wars by describing what they truly are: dick-waving contests where one dumb ass kills another. Political entities can try to dress up the idiocy with flags, music, marches, slickly-produced TV commercials, and little car magnets shaped like ribbons, but the essential character of war remains the same- a psychotic animal tantrum prompted by the same, relatively unsophisticated impulses which cause us to eat, swallow, blink, cough, sneeze, ejaculate, urinate, and shit (not necessarily in that order). Nations of naked, dick-waving apes, turning each other into bloated, dismembered corpses have no claim to glory, honor, or dignity. War is the ultimate surrender to rank and abject stupidity, and those who defend it are insane.

    • My brother's going to Afghanistan this Spring.

That said, I still support the effort, I can't stand the thought of Afghanistan going to the Taliban, I know the government is corrupt, but at least now little girls can go to school and utilities are vastly improved. I think the military strategy should be combined with efforts to get the support of moderate Taliban and alleviate Pakistan's border concerns, but the military is still necessary to secure people from the terrorists.

    • George Denis Patrick Carlin (May 12, 1937 – June 22, 2008)

In 2009, it was announced that Barak Obama won the 2009 Nobel Peace Prize.

Your stance on the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and President Obama is your business. Carlin could not be rebutting Obama's speech if he, Carlin, was dead. Falsified right wing like propaganda is the work of amateurs.

    • i thought i had seen every one of George Carlin performances. I might have just forgotten seeing this. Either way, it is absolute hysterically sad truth of the times then and still terribly relevant today.

As a half Kuwaiti, there is such gratitude for the service of The United States Military to save the country of my father's roots and place of residence for about 14 years, though inconsistently. Although, I must note the real pride came from having been born in Des Moines, Iowa; mother being White [of European descent, Irish to be technical, maiden name- Cook to be specific :P ] my grandfather happens to be a Military Veteran.

The gratitude and pride would be meaningless without acknowledging humility. Thanks to actually having roots in the Mid-West and the Middle East, I am guided to never side with any perspective of any sort, whether it be matters like nationality, religion, science and ideology, or sports, corporations, education, the environment. From what I have looked into of the Gulf War, it was all kinds of wrong, on everyone's part. It was about oil and money---power. Understanding that entire operation would help comprehend how we got where are now. This is clip of George Carlin is unsuccessful in becoming some sort of blow towards now President Obama. Carlin says he could see pass the B.S. of going to war cause he is "rational thinking" person.

Obama may very well not be perceived reasonable for not ending the wars immediately, but lets not overlook the fact that Senior Bush was the one that first got involved with this "dick fight", and lil W had to prove himself. The Bushies are the ones 'fucking with people'. W Bush really had to go "all the way", just never had an exit strategy. You would think since Cheney* and Colin Powell* had been planning the operation to go into Iraq since 9, they might have considered just how to get out. Well maybe this is part of the plan, but either way, it was left up to the next President of The United States to deal with, even it had been McCain that won the election. Let's not forget his exit strategy. What was it? Something along the lines of seeing us in Iraq for another 100 years, and "Bomb Bomb Bomb,--- Bomb Bomb Bomb - Iran!" Lets not get carried away with bickering and ignorance, but try to understand the situations for what is really happening. Do not mistake my forward and brute attitude be mistaken for arrogance. I mean well. I offer my views for better insight and consideration. I must admit, George Carlin has a way more entertaining delivery :P

    • Ajil:

Wow, you really have it all figured out, don't you?

Ya know, usually when I see a couple of paragraphs in a comment I just overlook it, but I didn't overlook yours for some reason, I read the whole thing, and this is the part where you think I'm having a heart to heart with you. But honestly I'm not, while I do not approve of the Bush Administration, I really think you have no more insight than any other blogger with a diatribe to litter the valuable space in the comment section.

Now tell me, would you say the same thing if George W. Bush called for a 30,000 troop surge at this time?

No, you wouldn't, because you're hip, liberal and swimming with the current.

    • Ajil:

You question is unreasonable. How could i say the same thing if it were George W Bush issuing the surge?
I was addressing the irrational of this clip somehow being a blow to Obama. No where in the clip does George Carlin mention a Nobel Peace Prize, yet it does remind us of who is truly responsible for our current activities. My stance is valid. However, I never claimed to have it all figured out. It just seems relevant to offer my perspective on these matters. I do not seek approval or make any attempts to affiliate with any ideology. But I guess you didnt catch that since ur a selective reading-narrow minded conservative ( a statement equivalent to your presumptive name calling). Please elaborate if I am missing something here.

You are silly if you think too many in this country would sit down and actually think.
Look at guy that first replied to you. You read that and all he heard was you disagreeing with George W. Bush...He even felt smart enough to get catty and call you a liberal clone.

Deadpool, if Bush had finished this war and left no need for a 30,000 troop increase would be the best shortest answer.
If that had happened we would have saved so much money and sooo much more stupid debate.

Well if there is one thing I have never been called in my life it was a selective reading-narrow minded conservative. Thats offensive. While my words are rash, I never meant to offend you.

I oppose the surge in troops because this is not a war. It's an elaborate crime against humanity. If our prophetic president was truly deserving of a Nobel Prize, he would not send 30,000 soldiers to Afghanistan, he would send teachers, farmers, engineers to build the foundations for a nation for the Afghani people. It is terrorist sects and tribal leaders that keep the population in the dark ages.

Upping the ante will not end the war, especially when we are not even certain of who the enemy is.

    • While I love Carlin's work and respect him as a foundation in stand up Comedy, his material in the latter years was not unlike the banter - and I will use his words - of an old fuck.

Although, every word he speaks is one of unfortunate truth.

Well Obama is still alive (peace prize - war prize - get it?), and George Carlin died just last year. I'm not sure if I answered your question. I had assumed you were talking about this line:

"George Carlin’s Rebuttal to the Nobel ‘War’ Prize Laureate’s (Obama’s) Speech"

    • "What?! They have bigger dicks then us? Bomb them!!!"

Parents took me to see him when I was 13. Saw him on the last show he played in Bellingham WA. A true genius! More people should listen to what he has to say and not just assume he's some potty mouthed dirty old man. (Even though he is!)

    • how is this a rebuttal of Obama? Obama didnt start these wars, he's just trying to figure out how the hell to deal with them now. Carlin was a god though, and he is missed.

    • Carlin was a genius. His comedy cut right through all the bologna and got people thinking about how we lie to ourselves and the phoniness of society, etc - at least those who realized his words were intended to do more than just make us laugh.

as for Obama... what a disappointment he has been thus far. A shame.
