Gay-bashing woman humiliated for wearing hideous skirt

Image
unimatrix0
An angry loser (right) came to Syracuse University to make a fool of herself by spreading pathetic hatred and was treated to a happy mutant style stunt by this smiling student, named Chris Pesto (left).

"I decided that because this woman thought it was okay to make me feel uncomfortable in my home, I would retaliate and make her feel just as uncomfortable, if not more."

    • Thinking is unlimited. We are born with incredible imaginations and we are like a freshly made work of abstract art. Its meaning is not set in stone. However, our world is governed by words of all kinds that have multiple meanings. These words are like oracles demanding observance and obedience. These words require us to believe. Beliefs only go so far, because beliefs attempt to lock in, or set in stone, meanings to the words. Thus thinking becomes limited as we get older due to the box that beliefs put us in.

This way we all become limited thinkers because of the beliefs or assumed meanings others have attached to the words we are drawing our identity from.

This is so sad because it makes all of us blind to the unlimited possibilities of existence, the immense diversity or realities that humanity can express.

Judgments are an extension of this psychosis of thinking limited by beliefs. It leads to all sorts of sickness and violence. When we take full ownership of our individual lives, we are empowered to create our own meanings. This empowerment is the true liberty and freedom that we have an intrinsically require but are denied because of the superimposed meanings that which we call society has committed to written words.

It doesn't matter where you fall in the spectrum of political, religious, or sociological belief structures, what matters is what value do you put on the life of individuals. Do you see them as devils or do you see them as sheep? Are they leaders or followers? Are they deserving of love, life and the pursuit of happiness, as they define these words for themselves, or are they inherently flawed because they don't accept the predesignated meanings to these words, the predesignated meanings that political, religious, and sociological belief structures have superimposed?

Where do you want to be? Do you want to be a sheep, a drone, a member of a group with predefined limits, OR do you want to be an individual, an unlimited thinker, a creator? There are tremendous responsibilities assigned to each. True freedom is not being limited by the box of faith and beliefs. Faith and beliefs require only one responsibility, to be faithful and loyal to the predefined meaning. But being an individual and taking full ownership of that means that you have unlimited potential to be anything and mean anything that you want or can imagine. Unfortunately, these systems of superimposed political, religious, and sociological systems doesn't nurture the growth of individuals. To the contrary, it seeks to homogenize to assimilate the collective, left or right, under the control of the few individuals who have asserted their power by aligning themselves with the aforementioned structures.

As for me, I am an individual and no one is going to put me in a box of beliefs.

Thanks to you both. And I did write it somewhere, here to be exact.

I think I could develop it even further, like into an essay or a book...LOL (been telling myself for years that I must get down to writing that book).

    • The bible also says it is groovy to own slaves, women are property and stoning to death is a good punishment for all sorts of minor offenses. That is why I don't pay much attention to a book written by men that believed the world was flat.

    • If we're going to use the Bible to say that Gays can't marry, then we should also make it illegal for those who've committed adultery to remarry.

That's the same thing. Gays can't marry; adulterers can't remarry; and divorce must also be illegal.

There is nothing I hate more than a child with a hateful sign like that. If an adult wants to be an idiot, fine, but don't make a kid carry a sign like that until they are old enough to have an opinion on the subject.

      Great picture though. :)

Bashing another person's appearance is pointless and childish.
The girl has NO right to say what sin is. Plain and simple.

Here's the thing: It's not exactly "eyewitness testimony". The Bible was written in many pieces by many different people throughout several centuries. This is overlooked by the religious idea that all scripture was divinely inspired by god- but it most certainly is not "eyewitness testimony" ; it's more like anecdotal evidence from a variety of sources that's been re-translated and reinterpreted over thousands of years.

    • I used to go to SU and the same people would always be arguing and yelling the word of the lord out on Marshall street. I tried having a conversation with them once. Big waste of time. They just kept pushing the bible in my facc (literally) and quoting scripture. Every time I would turn a point around on them they'd jump to another topic. It was like talking to a wall. They also have posters of photo-shoped aborted fetuses. Those are were really disturbing. What disturbed me the most was that some told them to go stand outside for hours holding them.

Can anyone weigh in on this happening on other campuses?

I go to a Christian college. Last year the group Soulforce showed up on our campus. Im not against homosexuality [for the reasons Deliatheartist pointed out in her post on page 1] but these people were incapable of discussions. I did not even attempt to talk to them because they were only interested in yelling and trying to get arrested. But the people I do know that spoke to them got no where in the conversation.

At the other college I went to, these random man would show up occasionally and literally scream at students walking by. Things like you are a sinner because your skirt is short or that they should be talking to boys. He was ridiculous to say the least and most people ignored him.

So it does happen at other campuses. Radicals are everywhere. I just wish they could communicate and discuss instead of yelling and name calling.

    • Is killing stated as a sin? Yes, so in theroy whatever the best selling fiction book says is true. So are soldiers sinners? What about the people who leathally inject murderers. How about you? Have you sinned today? Yesterday? Are you going to go out tommarow night and have one too many? Be a bit of a gluton? Everyone is a "sinner" exept my grandmother. So everyone go home tonight and burn your bibles! Me I'm going to live and not hate anyone for any reason! But I will have one too Many tomarrow night! Yayyyy!

The translation that uses the phrase "thou shalt not kill", namely the King James version, is hideously mistranslated, most experts agree.

The term used in the original hebrew alluded to murder, and many scholars interpret the entire phrase to mean Jews were prohibited from killing other Jews. The proscriptions in the ten commandments were not meant to cover or protect gentiles, nor situations that were allowed or condoned by Jewish law, these scholars believe.

As usual, christians completely misinterpret these verses, as they have no historical context for the texts, as the Jews do.

By the end of the day, a good 50 students came out with posters and signs sticking up for their fellow classmates. It was truly a fantastic sight and it really made me proud of my fellow student body.

Jesus is the the word of God (the bible)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

      John 1

the bible says sodomy is a sin

knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless and insubordinate, for the ungodly and for sinners, for the unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, for fornicators, for sodomites, for kidnappers, for liars, for perjurers, and if there is any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine

I do not bear any hate towards homosexuals and I am not a Christian, but I studied parts of the Bible in various Literature courses. There is a statement in Matt, 10:4 which says, "And He answered and said to them, “Have you not read that He who made them at the beginning ‘made them male and female,’ “and said, ‘For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh?'"

I am just stating a fact from the Christian faith in response to your statement. I hope you do not take offense by it.

Oh, and Jubal, you are absolutely correct! - "Christians break the law of Jehovah by worshiping idols such as the cross, the bible, Jesus pictures, Holy water, the Holy written word, their pastors and some televangelists."

@ibrake- your verses do not prove anything about homosexuality! @Mas, neither do yours. BTW, "sodomy" was used as a general word to describe many types of sexual behavior, not just homosexual sex.

Jesus's message was one of love and tolerance. If Jesus were real and alive today he would be keeping company with those judged by society as sinners, he would stand up for the rights of all men and women.

Is this not also the "word of god"?

Judge not, that ye be not judged.

For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again.

And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?

Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?

Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother's eye.

Cast the beam from your own eye, people. Jesus would not want you to judge others as sinners; leave the judging up to god- it's not your place.

Hang on here, if sodomy is the only reference to 'homosexuality' you've got then there are a few problems. One is that a lot of homosexuals are women; no sodomy there. Two: some homosexuals don't even like sodomy (I don't know what they do instead) so no sodomy there. Three, and the most important one, I know PLEnty of heterosexuals that engage in sodomy frequently (not saying I'm one of them, not saying I'm not either) and enjoy it! Not to mention the borderline bisexuals that also don't participate in the act of sodomy but have hetero and homosexual sex.

I, personally, don't care either way but so many people do. I just don't understand why they feel it necessary to shout about it!

The verses in Mathew that were quoted with regard to marriage were responses Jesus gave them because they were quizzing him about divorce and their custom of passing down the wife from brother to brother. It didn't have any implications about homosexuals, unless someone wanted to twist its meaning in such a way.

    • DeliaTheArtist:

ibrake- I'm not Christian, but I have no intentions to tell you that god doesn't exist and all that. We can talk from a biblical perspective on this subject because I do not believe that Jesus Christ condemned homosexuality nor would expect his followers to do so today. Jesus went against much of the strict, ritual based mentality of the Old Testament, and those that believe in Jesus Christ as the son of God accept his word as the new law- never in this new law did Jesus speak out against homosexuality, nor tell his followers they should be judging the sins of other people. Quite the opposite, actually.

      The fact of the matter is, Old or New Testament, homosexuality is barely mentioned at all. If it was such a big deal, don't you think God would have spent more time talking about it? If anything, Jesus spent more time condemning divorce;

"He said to them, 'For your hardness of heart Moses allowed you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not so. And I say to you: whoever divorces his wife, except for unchastity, and marries another, commits adultery."

Yet, where are all the Christian protests in front of divorce courts?

It would seem to me that homosexuality just makes some people uncomfortable and they can't understand it- so they cling to religious text to justify their feelings. But there is no such justification, there is no condemnation of homosexuality outside of the Old Testament and there is no way Christ would approve of the judgment his followers cast upon their fellow man.

      @Nettle

Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive. Nobody should seek his own good, but the good of others."

      1 Corinthians 10:23

Among the diseases with which anal sex is associated are HIV,[27] human papilloma virus (HPV) (which can increase risk for anal cancer)[28] typhoid fever[29] and various diseases associated with the infectious nature of fecal matter[citation needed] or sexual intercourse in general. Among these are: amoebiasis; chlamydia; cryptosporidiosis; E. coli infections; giardiasis; gonorrhea; hepatitis A; hepatitis B; hepatitis C; herpes simplex; human papillomavirus; Kaposi's sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (HHV-8);[30] lymphogranuloma venereum; pubic lice; salmonellosis; shigella; syphilis; tuberculosis.[31][32][33]

The high concentration of white blood cells around the rectum, together with the risk of cuts to the rectum and that one of the functions of the rectum is to absorb fluid, increases the risk of HIV transmission because the HIV retrovirus reproduces within the immune system's T-cells/CD4 cells. Use of condoms and other precautions are a medically recommended way to lessen risk of infections. Unprotected receptive anal sex is the most risky sexual behavior in terms of HIV transmission.[34][35][36]

Increased risk of anal cancer due to HPV
Most cases of anal cancer are related to infection with the human papilloma virus. The incidence of the disease has jumped 160% in men and 78% in women in the last thirty years, according to a 2004 American study. The increase is attributed to changing trends in sexual behavior and tobacco use. Current use of tobacco increased the incidence of anal cancer fourfold, while a history of multiple sex partners (fifteen or more) or receptive anal sex increased the incidence sevenfold.[37]

      Physical damage
Physical damage to the rectum and anus can manifest as generalized ano-rectal trauma, hemorrhoids, anal fissures,[31] and rectal prolapse. An insufficient amount of lubricant can make it especially painful or injurious.[38] Damage is more likely to occur if intercourse is forcible or aggressive or if alcohol or other drugs have dulled sensitivity.

      Anal incontinence
Loss of control over the bowels, though rare according to some, is thought to be a valid concern[39] and is reported to be caused by repeated injury, or by the insertion of large objects,[40] or simply by regular anal sex, which "leads to internal sphincter dilation and soiling."[41]

A 1993 study published in the Journal of the Royal Society of Medicine found that fourteen out of a sample of forty men receiving anal intercourse experienced episodes of frequent anal incontinence.[42] However, a 1997 study published in the American Journal of Gastroenterology found no difference in levels of incontinence between homosexual men who engaged in anal sex and heterosexual men who did not, and criticised the earlier study for its inclusion of flatulence in its definition of incontinence.[43]

Dr. Jack Morin recommended kegel exercises to prevent loss of muscle tone from anal fisting or insertion of large objects in a presentation of clinical aspects of anal sexuality, delivered at the 1998 joint conference of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality and the American Association of Sex Educators. He added, however, that he had never personally observed "loosening" in any of his patients

you took that verse out of context

The Lord also said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. You must be holy because I, the Lord your God, am holy

“When you enter the land and plant fruit trees, leave the fruit unharvested for the first three years and consider it forbidden. Do not eat it. In the fourth year the entire crop must be consecrated to the Lord as a celebration of praise. Finally, in the fifth year you may eat the fruit. If you follow this pattern, your harvest will increase. I am the Lord your God.

“Do not eat meat that has not been drained of its blood.

“Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft.

“Do not trim off the hair on your temples or trim your beards.

“Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the Lord.

“Do not defile your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will be filled with prostitution and wickedness.

“Keep my Sabbath days of rest, and show reverence toward my sanctuary. I am the Lord.

“Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the Lord your God.

“Stand up in the presence of the elderly, and show respect for the aged. Fear your God. I am the Lord.

Dude, you STILL aren't answering the lady. Quoting scripture at her isn't an answer.

What she (and the rest of us) want to know is, what criteria are you using to decide (wholly for yourself) what verses to obey and which ones you don't need to worry about.

How do you know? How do you decide? I assume you don't support slavery, but that book you keep quoting says it's ok. It also contradicts one of the lines you just quoted yourself - the one about not promoting prostitution, but Leviticus says you can sell your daughter into sexual slavery.

How do you resolve those direct contradictions? How do you decide what's good to obey and what is outmoded and no longer valid?

Correction: those are diseases with which ALL SEX IS ASSOCIATED!!! As Nettle pointed out, straights have anal sex too- I have, and I have never had any sexually transmitted disease or any other medical complication as a result. All sex is "risky", that's what condoms are for!

Let's move on to the scripture:

"Do not eat meat that has not been drained of its blood." Ever have a rare steak?
"Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft." Ever read your horoscope?

“Do not trim off the hair on your temples or trim your beards." Ever get a haircut?

“Do not cut your bodies for the dead, and do not mark your skin with tattoos. I am the Lord." No tattoos I take it? Do you consider it a sin?

“Do not defile your daughter by making her a prostitute, or the land will be filled with prostitution and wickedness." Uh, that's just good advice.

“Keep my Sabbath days of rest, and show reverence toward my sanctuary. I am the Lord." That's Saturday for the followers of the Old Testament- ever do anything on Saturday?

“Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the Lord your God." Again, no horoscopes? No psychics? Do you consider it a sin?

“Stand up in the presence of the elderly, and show respect for the aged. Fear your God. I am the Lord." Do you stand up every time you see an old person?

The POINT Nettle is trying to make which you are either missing or purposely ignoring is that Leviticus is practically the ONLY mention of homosexuality in the Bible- but Leviticus mentions many MANY laws which are brushed off by modern day society. Therefore it's not fair to cling to one law whilst ignoring the rest!

Moving on, to Christians, the word of God through Jesus replaces the law of the Old Testament with a new law, the law of Christ. JESUS CHRIST NEVER TALKS ABOUT HOMOSEXUALITY. PLEASE keep in mind that any Bible you have with the word homosexual in it is a newer translation as the word 'homosexual' itself was not even coined until the 1880's, making it literally impossible for the original scribes of any part of the bible to have made reference to homosexuals.

Your biblical justification does not hold water. Jesus never said homosexuality was a sin, nor condemned homosexuals, nor urged his followers to consider homosexuality a sin.

and jesus was a jew notice when anyone tries to depict him he has long lair and a beard?

thats just proof that jesus fulfilled the law for us, and are made complete in him alone, and not by keeping the law. we are saved through faith in christ

man is not able to keep the whole law, so jesus came to fulfill it for us, he kept the whole law and yet died as a sinner

and thank you nettle those verses gave me more insighht on how amazing god is

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

Jesus came to Earth and died for us so that we were allowed to pick and choose which of the laws we wanted to follow? Wow! That means that even gays will be forgiven! Thanks ibrake, you've opened up a whole new point.

So my questions are this, ibrake. What laws of the bible should be followed? Everything laid out in the Old Testament? Specific things Jesus said? Which things are sins according to Jesus's Law in your opinion?

28One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"

29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.[e] 30Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'[f] 31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[g]There is no commandment greater than these."

32"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. 33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

34When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

Again I am going to state LEVITICUS WAS ONLY FOR THE TRIBE OF LEVI, because the Levites were the priests serving in the temple of Jehovah. Also if Jesus had intended on following and fulfilling the law as IBRAKE points out in MATTHEW, Jesus should have come from the tribe of LEVI, in order for JESUS to serve as THE high priest of the order of Melchizedek and be the MESSIAH. But the TRUTH is that JESUS came from the tribe of JUDAH.

Your tribe was determined by the maternal lineage, not the father.

So on all counts IBRAKE your interpretation of the bible is flawed.

More to the point, he is STILL avoiding answering the main question, which is, what are the criteria by which he decides which are the "inner" commandments of the Old Testament, and thus to be obeyed, and which are the "outer" or "non-inner" ones which can be safely ignored? There is nothing in the bible which clearly outlines this - Jesus is contradictory on that point.

But face it, folks, he will NOT answer that question - because he has none.

He is merely a sheep - spouting the lines his "elders" have taught him, they are all he knows. They never bothered to tell him the answer to this one - because THEY were never told.

Christianity does not encourage independent thought, which is what spanky needs to be able to answer this question. He cannot, because he has been taught to spout their core nonsense instead of thinking.

Spanky, either answer the dang question or get you gone - you will convert nobody here, and we are too independent thinking for you to understand our way of thought. Spouting scripture won't answer the question, the answer does not lie within your holy book, but in you're being able to think for yourself.

It sure seems all to often that christians have a real problem answering the question they are asked. I think its because they are used to speaking in a spiritual way.

The problem is you all aren't speaking the same language and ibrake is getting confused, and then responds and you guys are confused by his/her response.

In order to keep it simple, I would suggest you stick to one question at a time, so Ibrake doesn't get distracted and start to quote scripture, and is forced to deal with the questions one at a time.

Take a dialectic stepwise approach, instead of a shotgun one, and see how (s)he does.

(i know it's hard when so many of you are engaging, but imagine if you had to deal with 10 people at once!!)

Im trying to convince peope that my arguments for any political issue come from the bible

but then people deny my argument no matter how correct it may be, because its from the bible, and has no credibilty to it. so once i start getting into my argument they go back to the "well the bible was written by man" so then im having to back track to that argument

@Ibrake, you know several people have tried to engage you on these issues and asked you several direct questions which you fail to answer directly, you either quote a scripture, or you weasel out of it by posting the last thing you did saying that you post the truth about political issue from the bible.

You don't explain anything from your own mind, you merely puppet things you have been led to believe. The sad thing is that people are engaging you because they earnestly want to engage with you, but you are making it impossible to communicate as people, you come across as not having a critical mind or even an open mind. And that sadly is going to make people stop taking you seriously or feel it is a waste of time to engage with you.

Don't make yourself to be the spokesperson for Christianity, you are not. You are one person with an opinion and that is it. You aren't official anything. Yet many of your comments in this particular thread off of Delia's original post speak as though you have the one true interpretation of bible.

You even made a really silly comment stating that Jesus is the Bible. That makes you look even more foolish, because Jesus may have been a person, but the bible is a collection of writings by many authors. I do realize that John 1:1 states that Jesus is the word of god, but that doesn't mean he is the bible.

I hope you listen to what I am saying here, or you may end up alienating those that you want to take your comments seriously.

ibrake, you practically refuted your own argument with your commandment story- the most important things to a Christian should be to love god and to love others as you love yourself. Not to rally against homosexuals and not to deem others as being sinful. That story and your point of view seem to contradict each other!

"The Lord also said to Moses, “Give the following instructions to the entire community of Israel. "

jubal the bible is not vauge, misleading, or relative in any way. i read it for wat it is, the word of God (Jesus), unlike you who cherry picks certain verses to fit your world view

when i read the bible i feel like God is speaking directly to me and i try not to take any of it out of context and apply it to my life

i am not a "free thinker" when it comes down to the absolute principles of the bible.

ibrake- one particular little issue I have- you keep saying that your opinion is a "fact." This leads to a large host of other conversations including but not limited to:

Your ability to prove the legitimacy of the bible as a factual source,

Your personal interpretation of the bible compared to disagreeing Christians who think their opinion is "fact",

Your ability to prove that the god you are talking about even exists...

I somehow think you will be refuted on all of these points; how can you say something is a fact when your only source is the most controversial source in history?

      ibrake:

if the bible says sodomy is a sin, and i am gay and like other boys, am i allowed to marry them if i promise not to sodomize them?

what if i don't even like sex? can i marry them still?

the bible doesn't say i can't marry another guy.

Well then it has been, I am sorry to say, a complete waste of time to have tried to communicate with you about this issue since you are so resolute on following something that most of know is not the word of God. If that works for you, great, but your not going to be welcomed in a warm manner when you express your judgments of sin. Everything you state as biblical truths and absolutes have been thoroughly refuted.

Plus you never answered some very important questions, which means that you either don't have the answer or you just don't want to admit that you were caught in a biblical contradiction.

I for one am not going to be engaging with you on the topic of bible anymore, it has proven to be pointless.
