So, prince of persia obviously had a lot of time and money put into it. Jake Gyllenhaal I didn't know you were Persian! Oh what's that... You're not. . . hm... Too bad people will go to see it anyways, but I hope not. I was under the impression we got past the days of having white people play everyone in movies. I guess not.

      According to IMDB, "Prince Naveen is from a fictional country in the Mediterranean named Maldonia. The kingdom's name is a mix between Malta and Macedonia."

      There's a reason why he looks like a white guy with a tan. Personally, I think it's great that he's so ambiguous.

      how many serial killers play serial killers in movies or tv show?

      How many married people play married people in movies or tv shows with their ACTUAL partner?

      How many Japanese people can pass as Chinese because Westerners think they all look alike?

      How many blonds have died their hair to get a brunet part and brunet to blond?

      How many people that don't know how to play football have played characters who are on a football team?

      How about any other job...like an accountant or a lawyer?

Does anyone remember the old charlie chan series. that was another case of a white man playing an oriental. also one more example. Burt lancaster usedto play an indian in the old westerns about geronimo. the stoudios that greenlight those movies make sure to stay within their race when it comes to the actors,directors ,makeup artist, set builders and any other job that is profitable. lets face it most movies arent made to entertain the masses. they are made for the entertainment of white people.every now and then they will throw us a bone and make a movie with blacks in it where we are por
      trayed as buffons.pimps,irresponsible fathers. Or they find a latino who has no problem skinning and grinning,making fun of his race as well. Think about of all the great movies denzil washington has made in his carrer. but what does he win an oscar for? portrayin a morally corrupt,drug using,crooked police officer.It sends a subtle message to other black actors these are the type of roles you have to play in order to be reconized and appreciated.subliminal message?

      Funny how you conveniently forgot about Halle Berry's Oscar, which she won for playing a responsible and heartbroken mother. You can't tell me Hollywood doesn't project a positive image of Black people with all the Will Smith movies out there.

    • btw Persia was a very big place once apon a time and in the northern areas were people that would for all intent and purposes pass as semi Caucasoid with light color eyes olive skin and auburn (sometimes blond) hair. . .now if it was "Prince of Africa" or "Forbidden kingdom" (real movie) where everyone accept the chosen one is Chinese, then you would have a better argument

    • A good actor is a good actor and a good movie is a good movie. Prince of Persia takes place in a fantastical setting which is far from the reality of Persia (think 300). The franchise is more concerned with providing an entertaining and stylized experience, and that's why I'm going to go see it.

      It still takes place in Persia though. It's just one of those things that knocks the immersion qualities out of wack. He could be the greatest actor on the planet, he'll still stick out like a sore thumb against a Persian back round. Oh well, one should never hold their breath in anticipation for a video game-movie...we have yet to have a good one.

      Tomb Raider and Resident Evil were okay. But know that the Prince of Persia film was received extremely well by test audiences. Consider that it's from Disney, has the same producer as the Pirates series and the director of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Some think it may even perform better than Pirates.
