    • I admire and respect both film makers, however I feel that Spike Lee has a chronic case of hater-ism.......There is a large audience for the humorous type of films that Tyler Perry produces...Some people like to escape the seriousness of life, occasionally through film..Blacks should appreciate the diversity of African American film makers, and embrace the differences...There is room enough for both...

    • I can't help but wonder if the only reason this story is getting any attention is the fact that both of these extremely talented and successful men are described as "Black Film Makers" instead of just "Film Makers".......honestly, I can't relate to Tyler Perry and his movies are to sentimental for me. Spike Lee's movies are more realistic and he isn't afraid to say what's on all of our minds. That being said Spike Lee is still (or at least pretends to be) a very angry man. Come on Spike, it's okay you can tell us. It's just an act right?

The fact they are "black film makers" is an accurate and factual description, it is also at the heart of the story. Their dispute is the depiction of black people in film on a world stage. They are film makers yes but they are black first, and if one of them found himself in scandal the media would remind them pronto.

    • As a strong black man I have found many of Tyler Perry’s movies slightly offensive. Not that we have to glorify everything black; I just can’t understand why we can’t do a better job of celebrating our strength, culture, and, accomplishments. Mr. Perry has aspired too, and achieved a level of capability that far surpasses what many of his predecessors have achieved. However, with this power comes great responsibility. Why not use this power to help create a better Black America by putting forth images that we can all respect and appreciate. Tyler perry may not be capable of directing a movie of this caliber; however he has the ability to see that these types of things are put forth. It really isn’t what you gain that makes you rich, but rather what you can give.
