A British woman whose noisy sex sessions were officially branded anti-social behavior was warned Friday she would face jail, if she fails to stop the excessively loud lovemaking.

Caroline Cartwright, 48, was given an eight-week prison term suspended for 12 months, meaning if she engages in over-noisy coupling again in the next year she will immediately be put behind bars.

"I've heard a very short extract of the noise you make and can well see that your neighbors would be upset and distressed by this," said judge Beatrice Bolton at Newcastle Crown Court in northeast England.

Cartwright was served with a civil order over marathon romps with husband Steve, described in court as unnatural and "like they are both in considerable pain."

Neighbors at their home in Washington, south of Newcastle, had complained about the noise, as did passers-by and the postman.

Cartwright was served with an anti-social behavior order (Asbo), but admitted at a previous hearing to having violated it almost immediately, and repeatedly, last April.

An anti-social behavior order is a civil order made against people deemed to be a public nuisance, and is more typically issued for young delinquents using threatening behavior, or disrupting the peace.

At an earlier hearing the court was told that the local council set up special equipment in a neighbor's flat and recorded noise levels of 30-40 decibels, peaking at 47, as loud as a conversation in the same room.

Cartwright told the court she had tried to restrain herself.

"I have tried to minimize the situation by having sex in the morning, not at night, so the noise was not waking anybody.

"I may be sympathetic to it, but it is not something I am doing on purpose."

Passing the suspended sentence Friday, the judge said, "It needs to be a prison sentence because you need to be deterred. If you commit further offenses of this nature that sentence will be passed and you will made to serve it."

    • what, we have 'noise meters' now to oversee sex? the real issue here, that should have the focus is, 'noise', not how it is caused. if anyone is making sufficient noise to alarm the commuity, or 'upset the horses', that is the issue, or possibly a 'crime'. but i guess without the mention of 'sex', nobody would pay attention.

    • A little duct tape might help? My ex- wife used to shout during sex; she would say,"I have a headache"! Did you take the garbage out"? "Don't touch me like that"! "Have you been drinking"? "Leave me alone"? You know just the typical words of encouragement that men love to hear!

    • I HATE loud sex. I always find myself telling my wife when we're making love to "keep your noises down, I'm trying to watch TV!"

    • Psh... Even as loud as she was being, it still comes off as "the prudish neighbors need to get laid".

Maybe they need to move to a new, younger neighborhood. They would just turn up the TV or stereo and drown out the noise.

how about she complies by either shutting the fuck up or soundproofing her OWN house at her OWN cost. This is a house and not an apartment, so that much noise is really obnoxious and obscene.
i would still prefer community service rather than jail though.

I can't help myself wondering what those she gives community service to would look like when she replies to their question of what she did to get the 'time'! That would be worth a million bucks!
She could sell recordings of her and her husband to offset the cost of sound-proofing their boudoirs.

    • when i started reading this article i was already formulating my response on how prude society has become and how fuct the world is... and then i got to this part:

"At an earlier hearing the court was told that the local council set up special equipment in a neighbor's flat and recorded noise levels of 30-40 decibels, peaking at 47, as loud as a conversation in the same room."

      DAYYYUMMM

thats just obnoxious. like, thats not even freaky anymore. add to the fact that this woman is 50 years old and british, and my imagination of her passionate "lovesounds" just becomes more and more disturbing.

lol if i were a judge i don't know if i would put her in jail, but perhaps relocate her and her husband to a tropical island? idk maybe she is just a rebel at heart and gets off(literally) on the fact that her entire neighborhood can hear her.
