THUGS VS. NICE GUYS (AMWD)

What’s the deal with women today? I mean I respect the whole feminist movement and all….(sort of). But I had a conversation at lunch with a couple of single black females. My ex-girl friend was amongst these females. She asked me, “what is it with you “black males nowadays”? I asked her, what do mean? I didn’t even understand where she was going with the question at first. Then her females friends pounced on me like white on bread. “Where are all the good black men?”, they kept asking! Now as Reggie Farley, I grew up in a healthy home with a mom and a dad. My mother raised me to be kind to women. I don’t think I’m a thug or a jerk of a guy. So naturally, I wave at all the ladies saying, “hello, right here!”. So they look at me and laugh! But they continue to complain that there aren’t enough good black men around. They go on to complain that thugs are destroying black families in America. Here’s where I started to get a little angry. How can you blame thugs solely for such a wide spread problem. I think problems in the black community transcend that of just thugs. The females fought back with accusations of deadbeats and out of wed lock marriage. Both issues which are clearly present not only in black families, but almost all other races! They continued about “good guys” being rare or already “taken” or turning to the “dark side”. Now keep in mind, these are the same chicks that laughed at me when I said I was available (and anyone who knows me can tell you that I’m not a thug). I knew these women! Now I have nothing against thugs…Its just that, I knew these girls growing up. They dated thug like guys that didn’t treat them the way a “nice guy” would treat them. I just find it very funny that when the thugs are done with them, they come running to “nice guys” like me. Actually, I find it kind of insulting. Nice guys always get stuck with leftovers (No offense). While thugs get the hottest chicks of the flock! Maybe it’s true that nice guys do finish last. Maybe I should dress like a rapper and get thugged out? Maybe I should turn to the dark side???
