"Those responsible should take the brave decision and sign a letter (of resignation). If they can't we will help them," he said on television yesterday, demanding that things be changed lest the Motherland suffer another embarrassment (the usually strong Russian team finished 11th in the medal count) on its home turf in 2014. He blames it on officials and trainers, who were maybe not devoting all the allotted money to the actual, you know, training of sports people: "The athlete, not federations, those fat cats, must be given priority." Those filthy fat cats, stealing Soviet pride with all their wasteful spending.
OMG, is Medvedev a Tea Bagger?

Interesting, so much animosities towards Russians but we do not mind word's best figure skating trainers and choreographers from Russia who train majority of medalists. And we love Russian hockey players too!

HAAAA That's funny! Don't you mean THEY love us? Have you ever talked to Russian defector? Being a part of that community and ACTUALLY knowing a Russian ex pat olympic trainer I beg to differ! What a backwards way to look at it. Russians were running through gunfire to go West!

I believe the "love" is mutual. Americans love to hate Russians.

im dating a russian girl (no I didnt order her, she is an actual person) and was talking with her father and he was saying the same thing though, that the coaches and facilities there are pretty run down and loses in the figure skating and hockey really shook the country, but again, most of there athletes left after perishtroika and with the current americanization, young people are more interested in fashion, music and school than sports, seeing as they no longer find what your good at (sports wise) at an early age and train you everyday until the olimpics starts.... but on a more exciting note, glad the U.S.A. broke the record for most medals ever won at a winter olympics by any country!!!! almost had that hockey gold.... oh well.

Hey guys, the cold war ended a few DECADES a go. Give Russia an F-ing break. This is just booring internal politics. the political leader of his own country is perfectly entitled to want his Olyimpians to do better and to be annoyed at corruption inside the government sports training program. To think otherwise is simply moronic.

Ah the good ole days of cold war come back we miss ye.This actually happened back in the 70's and 80's.The hockey team was comprised of players that actually served in the Soviet Army and were called "Soviet Red Army". If they did not win they're games they would actually do time in a gulag!
