Apparently Viacom realized the importance of "The Daily Show" to Hulu—it's consistently one of the site's most popular programs and is clearly in sync with the Hulu demographc—and wanted outsized compensation, possibly including upfront payment

this just goes to show how closely Viacom and TWC/DirectTv are conglomerated...
...we'll just watch it through some other venue on the interweb... - 2 years ago

When I was inbetween cable/dish providers fighting over who would rip me off, I watched the Daily Show on Hulu every day. I will miss the ability to SHARE the vids on facebook. Jon does such a great job shooting down the radical republican antics. Making fun of FOX doesn't get old either.

The funny thing is, I would probably watch an extra commercial or two per break just to have the convenience of seeing Jon and Steve whenever I want. If only they would allow you to pause commericials and allow them to buffer, or stream them in slightly lower quality. I'd rather watch 5 smooth commercials than 1 hiccuppy one.

I'll be sticking to Comedy Central's website for the episodes, which is where I normally watched it anyway.

Both very good shows our new Generation not only needs to at least be able to understand and relate more to the happenings of todays world. Even so, we are unable to sit and watch even when it is on our laps. We gotz bills to pay so more people are working longer hours and more jobs. With that, and the really serious things that are going on around us should not be joked about, and instead looked at closely with our mind so we are able to correctly place our hearts out to a great cause.

I wasn't even aware they were on there in the first place. I was almost POSITIVE in 2007 they threw a hissy fit when they saw their videos on Youtube and said no one could show Viacom vids except for their own website. Anyone else remember that?

is this the same Viacom that shafted actors when they-SAG asked for more?
so i m sure now they know how it feels. (among many producers who didn't
think actors should fight for rights as well.Yes Hulu is slow. a movie takes forever to watch with buffering even with high speed internet. even 1 hr shows lag -it is a pain.

I, like others, will just watch elsewhere for free.
Viacom always wants people to pay through the nose for content, and it sucks because the viewers suffer.
They'll continue to lose money because they have no dedication to the fans.
On a separate note, Hulu should NEVER make itself a pay site. It will kill them faster than a cyanide pill injected into their stomach.

If they were making it for themselves, maybe. But they're supplying a commodity, and especially since it's digital-based entertainment, they're far more tied down to consumer demands than most mini-government corporations would admit.
If it is to much work to receive it through legal means in which Viacom could make some money, people will simply seek out illegal ways to see it, or simply stop watching. I know I'm going to do the latter.
