Well this is sad because this just shows how fat america is. it is also sad because our most popular fast food place has a child molesting clown as a masscot dont you think that would mean that america is just a little creapy for accepting him?

I wouldn't say this is sad, I mean I can see why people would look down upon this, but I think it's really clever. It's interesting to see this! McDonald's isn't only an evil empire, they're genius! I think this is pretty cool. Although it is sad local businesses don't seem to be supported enough, people would rather go for a calorie loaded, unhealthy, and unreal burger, than go for real food. McDonald's is so successful because they have such cheap prices, which is genius when you get down to the grand scheme. McDonald's was once a small business too, along with the other food chains that dominate this map. You have to start somewhere. McDonald's has come a very long successful way! Cool story!

Funny how some of the commenters marveled at the display of fast food hamburgers also made it a point to complain how black was a poor choice to mark the McDonalds' sites. If had they taken the time to go to the link, they would have found a linked article with an alternate map, completely devoted to McDonalds. I wonder if any of those that complained are also fast food consumers... (lack of effort, convenience, etc)

HAHA. So because we criticize the map, we are automatically defending the fast food and secretly work for them.
The alternate map just proves our point. Theres lots of areas on the alternate that dont have McDonalds but in the original, do have McDonalds. The person who made the map simply wasnt good at making maps. It would have been like making California green, and then making Oregon green too without border lines.
What they shouldve done is explain that these arent necessarily the locations of each restaurant. But instead the location and its consumers in the area. So that one mcdonalds in the desert hase a huge area and is the most used and most common in that area. This map isnt simply pointing out the location of each restaurant.

I can't believe just how much time and money Americans spend eating out. It's fucking bizarre. I mean we HAVE burger joints, but we don't make a daily ritual of killing ourselves at them. It's grotesque, honestly. Especially in LA I've noticed, where people are *supposed* to be image conscious, it seems like nobody knows how to cook and they all just eat out every fucking night. I was listening to an American podcast and the lad was discussing how he was thirsty because he'd just run out of his favourite energy drink. The idea that people could consume energy drinks to quench their thirst, and that they would rather go buy more of their energy drink than pour themselves a glass of water, is in my eyes a vision of a strange and terrifying hell.

This graph is AWFUL!!! Who's idea was it to make McDonald's the same color (black) as the background? There's no geographic demarcations what-so-ever so I can only get a general idea of where each dot is (apparently Stephen Von Worley is a master at national and state border locations). There also seems to be absolutely no rhyme or reason behind the groupings of these blobs either. Apparently Texas has nothing but Sonics, and the LA/San Diego area is almost nothing but Jack-in-the-Boxes. Amateurish at best.
