Police in New Jersey have ordered a snow sculpture modelled on the famous nude Venus De Milo be covered up after a neighbour complained.
Elisa Gonzalez, 44, carved the ancient Greek-style torso from snow on her front lawn.
"It looked very beautiful," she said.
"We got a lot of attention from people in the neighbourhood. Some of them got out [of their cars] and took pictures and spoke to us."
But one neighbour clearly felt the snow nude - headless, armless and cut off above the knees - was too hot.
"We had a visit from the local police who told us that a neighbour had complained about the statue and we needed to cover it up or knock it down," Ms Gonzalez said.
"We didn't want to have any problem with the police so we covered it up."
The original Venus De Milo, which is housed in Paris' Louvre museum, depicts a nude woman.
She also is without arms, although her head is intact.

whoever the neighbor is hopefully feels like a dick...most people are naked at one point or another during the day. so who cares if some snow was shaped like a naked woman. the Venus De Milo isn't sexual, its nude. there's a huge difference

Perhaps they would approve of a person in a snow burka . I think is was beautiful . It would be good to get comfortable with the human body , especially if you have one.

I'd file a harrasment complaint against the neighboor. It's friggin snow you moron! and how dare you dictate to anyone what to do with their art! you should be decapitated and quartered by a mob... I hope that neighboor dies from a tumor on their spine.

as an artist, and an art educator, that is insane that they would have to remove it. what about nude statues that people have in fountains. there is art every where and nudity! get a life to whom ever was offended. that is just pure ignorance and stupidity

last time I checked Islam had quite the restrictive code for women dress...
last time I checked there were secular peoples who object to this kind of stuff....

Really? A snow version of the Venus de Milo is not sexual and it's a little alarming that people are that scandalized by the human body. Frankly, if my neighbors did that, I'd be impressed. (Well, and confused, since we don't have snow here. But if we did...)
