Some people are accusing SuperNews! of copying the look of Jim Halpert, played by John Krasinski on The Office. But as creator Josh Faure-Brac explains it...
Not at all. We made the Darren character for a cartoon we did called “mugged at the gas station”. We used him again for the twitter cartoon and he became our office guy.. We didn’t even plan on having recurring office bits.. it just happened while we were under dealine.. that’s pretty much how all of Supernews works..

Back at the old office, someone thought it was funny to buy some “teen bop” or “tiger beat” magazine. One of them had a the centerfold of a dreamy dude named Cody Linley. Non of us had ever heard of him, and we kind of all wanted to punch him in the face, so we thought it would be funny to hang the centerfold on the wall. It had been hanging for a couple months when Josh ordered up a design of a hip younger dude that would be pissed-off about the rising gas prices in our “Mugged at the Gas Station” cartoon. Naturally I used Cody as a hair model and just kind of made up a generic face to go along with it. I gave him have brown hair, so it wouldn’t look too much like Cody.
Darren has been all over the SuperNewsiverse, from his office all the way to Memetasia.

Darren totally looks like Jim. I think they are eerily similar, but I think that has less to do with plagiarism and more to do with the "office guy" stereotype. I love Darren, he is the sanity that holds down the supernews office.
