Maybe Eyjafjallajökull is doing its part to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

    • This graph is entirely inaccurate, if fails to recognize the far greater threat of the world serpent Jarlmorung living beneath the volcano. Did the sky just go black?

Well, I'm not saying you're wrong, nor them, but I was thinking along the lines of displacement => the more CO2 going IN was also LESS OXYGEN. The reason I thought that was because they had said the plane engines shut off real fast... but I guess several things would do that, like what you said.

If I'm correct though then perhaps they could outfit all the planes with a compressed oxygen supply system if this situation is going to happen more often... assuming they don't like losing $200,000,000.00 a day in lost revenue [plus killing world tourism].

As I recall rodashar, those turbines spin excessively high speeds, so a dust particle in it is going to do significant more damage than we would think. Airplanes in a way are rather delicate imho so they need to be shown the nearest landfill and replaced with something better. Preferably a system that lifts the craft without any need for traveling forward into whatever dust particles happens to be in front of it, or birds, ducks, geese.

One main reason a plane has to have wings and windspeed isn't to lift passengers it's to lift heavy aviation fuel PLUS the heavy weight of the fuel tanks that holds it. Do away with the fuel and the tanks you would have yur UFOs. I designed one in late 2002, a spinning saucer style just like in the movies. I'm certain the world leaders saw it but I am also certain they already have a better system that made mine just an interesting toy.

Mine had the engine in the center. It was air-cooled and pulled air in from the top and expelled it out the bottom and as it was real HOT it added lift from the bottom, plus by pulling air from the top it was creating a low pressure area above the craft. Rotating at a fast enough speed it should go straight up quite well.

The trick is to have the rest of the craft spin in the opposite direction as the engine spins the other way, so that they cancel each other out.

Another trick was to have several encirclings of hydrofoils around the rim, some going one direction the other ring of foils the opposite direction, angled inward pushing the heated air in not letting the heat escape til after the heat rise was used. Seen from a distance and from the ground the spinning hydrofoils would be invisible... so it would look like it stepped out of the movie set The Day the Earth Stood Still.

It's all doable. I don't know why they keep up this facade. Scared to death to tell anybody? Maybe. They keep the real stuff everybody else keeps using 20th century trash that gets knocked out of the air by a duck.
