Ghosts, do they actually exist?

JuliusBC
A very faint ghostly whisper is heard and a light whisp of smoke is caught here on this video. Some believe it could be evidence of a ghost. What do you think?

Do ghosts really exist?

    • This is a photo I snapped about a week ago at a local cemetery. I was driving about 10 miles per hour and snapped it out an open window. The streaks in the center are also orbs. The reason there is a zig-zag the right end of each is I believe I jerked the camera which caught that movement and is reflected by the movement during the shutter closing on the camera. Initially I thought they could be lights outside of the cemetery but if you look real close there is a pickup in the back ground and the extended orbs are between me, the pickup and the tall head stone. Pretty cool. I stopped and took another picture and there were no orbs present.

    • Oh! the description is deceiving... It's not nice to do that you know because you can have someone die from a heart attack... tsk... tsk...

Well about ghost - I think they do exist since I believe that people have spirits and spirits can stay on Earth for some reason...

now that my heart rhythm has returned to normal...

i have seen a ghost with my own eyes, and so did the person i was with. neither of us mentioned it until we were out of the house and back to "safety". although not all ghostly encounters are actual human spirits. some are impressions left in time like an old recording.

    • Oh yeah. I've been in a place where someone near the turn
of the 20th century hanged themselves at their workplace
upon learning they'd lost their job at Christmas time. The
emotional trauma, and the violence of that suicide likely
made for one restless soul unable to depart that scene.
I thought I saw something moving where noone living should
have been, the electric lamp winking, as I felt a chill up and
down my spine " as if someone walked across my grave "
as the saying goes. There are lots of different universes
parallel to this one, and a lot of spirits to inhabit each one.
Check out Ghost Hunters on the Sy Fy channels sometime.
The truth is always stranger than fiction.

    • Good morning
Since l zonked outlast night the conversation continued, with over 40 comments in my mail box it looked like a lively conversation about the dead.
It comes down to you believe or you don't. I don't believe in anything that I can't back up with some kind of hard fact. A strange voice is not a ghost unless I check the area for environmental oddities like air in the pipes, squeaky floor boards or a raccoon stuck in the wall. If you ever heard a raccoon scream you would know what I am talking about, now that is creepy.
I do not read something and believe it, I need to see it for myself.

That's the trouble with such things. Neither side of this discussion had a ghost of a chance in proving anything. Skepticism is a human function that thrives and does extremely well. The most classical example of this would be religion. Most people are indoctrinated with it from birth, thus they believe whatever line or form of religion they have been given (fact or fiction). This is evident all over the world. Currently, the Muslims and Christians and the conflicts between is a perfect example. Their beliefs are highly based on the geographical location of where they were born and yet many are willing to die for their beliefs.

On the other hand, ghosts, spirits, aliens, UFO's, and things that go bump in the night are things that require indoctrination or experience to believe in as well. They are much like religion, you either believe what someone tells you or you don't. In either case, if you haven't been indoctrinated from birth, then you are left to either default to yea or nay or rely on your own experience. Some people have experiences and some people don't. This can become frustrating for both sides as one has experienced evidence and can't prove it and the other one has had no experience and holds that as evidence. This puts them on equal ground as far as opinions go. They usually meet with equal fervor incapable of shifting their positions as evidenced here on this post.

Skepticism is the nemesis of curiosity and allied with the choke holds of tradition but in contrast, curiosity is allied with growth and discovery.

      Good luck!

The word discussion is the main point of this all. Right or wrong, an open mind to others views is what is needed. I can not say that another's opinion is wrong, just different from my own. If religion had this view, all religion, then this world would be a better place. I believe that religion will be the downfall of humankind.
It was said back in this forum,We are here for such a fraction of time it is best to utilize it for constructive means rather than pleasant distraction.(Thank you RENGACORP ). I like the pleasant distractions, an eight years old view of the world but a view I would not give up for anything. My views are my own and I would not thrust them upon anyone, not if it meant hurting them.
Keep dreaming I say, life would be happier.
Now I am off to one of those distractions, a little one I call my son.

    • Sorry people but there are no such things as ghosts (Some life force left over from dead humans). While we are at it there is no god or devil or heaven or hell or any n umber of other silly things that people believe in due to their lack of knowledge. If you see something strange that you can't explain then just leave it at that, you don't know what it is, you don't need to conjure up all sorts of explanations like ghosts or angels etc.

    • Here is a picture of a hotel I found on the internet. When I first looked at it I got a creepy feeling. The more I thought about it the more I had to investigate it. I downloaded the picture and opened it with "Windows picture and fax viewer." This program allowed me to zoom in and observe parts of the hotel from a much closer perspective. Try it and see what you find. Take some time and look really close. Focus mainly on the two bottom levels. There are a number of spots that tend to take on the form of some kind of entity.

Look at it with an open mind and remember what this whole post is about. You are not looking for flesh and blood but something much different. There are actually quite a few things to be found here. Have fun. If you can't find anything let me know and I will post another picture with arrows to guide you. JBC

All in all, I am counting 13 figures between all of the shots. They all seem to be looking towards the photographer. This would tend to indicate that they are all aware of his presence and not necessarily posing but observing.

In the last picture, look to the bottom right hand corner. What I see is a short figure that is crossing their left arm across their body and holding their right shoulder. Further to the left of the picture and about half way up there appears to be three figures. The one on the left almost looks like a horse's head, the middle one looks like a wolf except it is vertical like a bear and just next to it on the right looks more of a human form. What do you see? Look at the fourth picture up from the bottom and the definition seems a bit more clear but smaller.

Try something else while you are looking at each picture. Look at them from different distances and determine the distance that gives you the best definition. It varies a bit from picture to picture. Try it with the lights on and off and see if that helps your eyes to make it more clear.

I don't see the candle you speak of but the second photo from the bottom photo is on the outside corner, second floor of the hotel. The bottom picture is just below it also on the outside corner of the hotel. The fifth picture up from the bottom is between the third and fourth columns second floor.

Oh, thanks for not going into detail and keeping from us all what would without a doubt be one of the most important discoveries of all time. If only we all knew what you claim to know. Quick question....Do ghosts believe in humans?

Please, there is no such thing as a ghost.

      1. Telepathy does not require verbal interaction. So that ant needn't worry about projecting his/her voice.
      2. Just because a butterfly lands on your head, or a bird decides to fly in your house, or a glass breaks all by itself, or 'strange mist' is captured on video tape, does not equate to anything more than an event propelled by nothing more than probability. We are here for such a fraction of time it is best to utilize it for constructive means rather than pleasant distraction. Remain fancy free at all costs. And now, on with the countdown....

1.) Relying on the fact that all things communicate in a universal language is one, never proven and B.) Radio waves through water always sound like the Dunkin Donuts drive-thru, or the teacher from Charlie Brown. So I can only imagine what brainwaves sound like.
2.) Probability and coincidence are are all factors in any investigation but facts are what count. As for what is constructive and what is a pleasant distraction I believe that is for oneself to determine.

What I find to be totally fasinating is that whales can communicate over three thousand miles while at a certain level in the ocean. They sing their songs and it travels through the water. At certain depths the temperature is such that it assists in this process.

INSERT WINGS OF DESIRE QUOTE HERE: When the child was a child, it was the time of these questions. Why am I me, and why not you? Why am I here, and why not there? When did time begin, and where does space end? Isn't life under the sun just a dream? Isn't what I see, hear, and smell just the mirage of a world before the world? Does evil actually exist, and are there people who are really evil? How can it be that I, who am I, wasn't before I was, and that sometime I, the one I am, no longer will be the one I am?

I believe in those spots as well. My interpretation of them is a portal or vortex into a different dimension. Few are permanent but most others fluctuate. This is due to different energys that are present from time to time. Seismic, lightning, thermal and such. Any place where something horrific has happened, there is an energy hot spot implanted in that location. Some last for a long time and others not so much. If you ever deal with it much it tends to open your mind a bit. No chemicals needed.

If reincarnation really does exist, then it would stand to reason that good and bad spirits or people are subject to it. Some would default to the belief that only the good would be allowed to come back if reincarnation actually does exist.

My theory on this is when a person is born, their spirit or soul previously left with certain characteristics or tendencies and upon returning it possesses the same. The time, place, and surroundings are different so the outcome may be impacted through these changes. Generally, the individual will be inclined to pursue the goodness or badness of it's spirit or soul.

This explains why a good person can come from a horrible environment or surroundings and an evil or malevolent person can come from a wonderful family or surroundings with no logical explanation. It makes perfect sense logically. Most religions teach contrary to this but my experiences have seemed to support it.

Some spirits, souls or ghosts are either trapped in some period of time or they choose to stay for one reason or another. Some choose to stay due to fear of what lies ahead. This is usually based on their religious beliefs and what they have done with their life. Others choose to stay due to an attachment to something they can't bear to loose or depart from such as a loved one or a possession they desire to keep. In other cases, some don't know they are dead for quite some time after they are actually dead. Their death was so sudden and without warning that they become trapped until something jars them loose sufficiently to discover the truth.

Yeah I saw Poltergeist in 1982. And regard Ghostbusters as the ultimate comedy. "Your theories are the worst kind of popular tripe, your methods are sloppy, and your conclusions are highly questionable! You are a poor scientist, Dr. Venkman!"

I saw Poltergeist and Ghostbusters as well. I would have to disagree with you on Ghostbusters being the ultimate comedy unless of course you are speaking solely about ghost movies. My theories are as popular and valid as any you can muster thus I guess we are both equally qualified for being considered to be tripesters (don't look it up, it's not in there). You say my methods are sloppy and my conclusions are highly questionable; however, your methods are far from adequate and conclusions are just as inconclusive thus we appear to be standing on equal ground. So the contest now would be to determine whether or not you qualify to be Mr. Dean Yeager.

It never ceases to amuse me that although the gist of this concept aligns with the major religions of Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Hindu and Buddhism, even practioners are unsure of the answer. Science can't prove it nor can they disprove it.

Therefore, for me to be able to presuade you or anyone else to understand more about this phenomena and why or how you either believe or don't believe in ghosts is highly improbable. This subject has been a source of conflict for almost as long as man has been in existence. My chances and yours of proving in either direction is seemingly equal. Once you have had the experience you will understand and if you never have it, you probably never will.

It would appear that neither of us can claim the title to being a good scientist which leaves us to accept our fate of being equally poor.

Now where in the hell is Zuul?

    • My boys and I were ghost hunting in a warehouse that my friend works at. The story goes that a little girl haunts the 4th floor. While reviewing recordings that were made, a distinct little voice came up saying "Excuse me","Hello guys". The voice was not my son but to make sure of that fact we decided to go back at a later date.
After another investigation without my boys we caught another voice that sounded like a little childs voice humming.
I went back a third time with my oldest son and two other friends. We all had recording devices, all digital. We all caught a voice of a small child and on more than one recorder we had the same sound.
Can't wait to go back again and see what we get.

Suddenly, I heard Tristan's signature meow come from just a few feet away and about a foot in front of my other cat. She jumped back and began to stare in the direction of the meow as I did. Then she got up and went and sniffed in the spot where the sound came from. Sadly, that was the last time it has happened.

When I was like 2 we live in colonial Virginia and we went through one of the forests that was next to a battle field. They said that every time we went through there to go visit my grandparents in Maryland I would start hysterically crying, just bawling the whole time. Probably because of all the dead spirit in that forest...

I was wearing a mini, and on turning to leave, something brushed past my legs, and I'll never forget it...as you would imagine a crinolin with lace attached in a sweeping motion...did some research, and that room had been part of the homes' ballroom...it was a strange day, that day...a couple of the other kids were spooked as well...just sharing...

    • Some time back, I taped a conversation I had with some one that was of questionable nature. It was more of a failsafe to protect myself from one of those he said she said kind of things. When I played the tape back later there was a high pitched noise in the middle of the conversation. I had a function on my recorder that would allow me to slow or speed up the recording. When I did this, the other voices were slowed way down and the high pitch voice became normal. It simply said: "Can I shoot him now mommy." It was a bit creepy and totally unexpected.
