I think the guy may have been set up. I read the following via TMZ the teenager was a runaway who was being controlled by a pimp who beat her. The girl met him at a hotel room. He was arrested afterwards on suspicion of "rape". Perhaps this was an extortion attempt turn bad. Having sex with minors is considered statutory rape even if it is consensual. The evidence of sequence of events reads more like a set-up to me. From where I sit it's like this - LT hires prostitute. Girl is delivered to a hotel recently beaten. Hopefully LT doesn't know she is underage. The deed is done. Cops show up to said hotel let themselves in. LT is arrested. I'm just sayin....
As for Ben he IS a rapist and should be in jail and isn't.
I'm not saying having sex with underage girls is ok by any means. To clarify it is absolutely not alright to engage in sexual activity with ANY minor.

I was angered when I heard the news about Ben Roethlisberger been accused of rape several months ago. Today, I'm sadden, angered, and greatly disappointment about this news regarding L.T.'s involvement with a 16 year old girl. To me, it really doesn't make a difference in whether a rape actually occurred our not. The fact of the matter is that, he's 51 years old and she's only 16. What was he doing with her ?Lawrence has been in and out of trouble since he left the University of North Carolina headed for the NFL. Former coach Bill Parcell swept his problems under the rug because Taylor showed up on Sunday's and performed notches above everyone else all through his career. He's been arrested several times for drug possession since his retirement over 15 years ago, and people have forgiven him. Former Dallas Cowboy great, Thomas "Hollywood" Henderson has been clean and sober for close to 30 years now. He was every bit as great and every bit as crazy as Taylor was in his playing days. He personally told me that, Taylor told him years ago that he did not need treatment and he could work his problems out on the golf course.

Henderson served time in the California penal system nearly 30 years ago for similar charges. That's where he got clean. If these allegations are found to be true, I hope that for everybody's sake involved in Taylor's life, including himself, that he also is sentence to prison. Enough is enough. It take what it takes.
