De Niro, Other Celebs Mock Arizona Immigration Law in Pro-Ilegal Alien Video

crystalman
De Niro, Jessica Alba and has-been C-listers Lindsay Lohan, Steven Seagal, Don Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Cheech Marin, and Danny Trejo all star in this short video mocking Arizona’s immigration law and those of us who actually want to protect our borders and national security.

I wonder–when one of them or one of their children is kidnapped by illegal alien drug smugglers in Phoenix who cut them up, limb by limb–if they’ll still hold this view. Sadly, that will only happen to the “little people” who don’t live in gated, secure, luxe mansions in the Hollywood Hills. Someone smoked too many spliffs . . . and I’m not just talking about Cheech. I’m talking about all of them. And I wonder how many of them use underpaid illegal aliens to mow their lawns and clean their homes.

De Niro should stick to something he actually knows about . . . like playing Mafiosi and deranged cab drivers. And the others should stick to what they know: bad acting.

    • We create our own monsters weither we will say it or not. Not to say that americans are directly doing these horrible things but that this is an effect of our addiction to substances, lack of national i.d.'s, and the failure as a comunnity to adress these problems in prompt well thought out solutions.

    • And by the way I can't believe you made this soooooo easy as to mention the whole drug smuggler thing. 90% of drugs are grown made and distributed on U.S. soil. Funny how it more drugs are made in america than flags. I cant believe how utterly ignorant and racist people can be.

    • Almost all of you (especially whoever wrote this article) are half informed children who have no idea what your talking about! The government wants you to be concerned about illegal immigrants so that they can slowly take your rights away and you'll be fine with it because it will keep you "safe." I don't know about you but personally I don't want to be working on a feild picking bananas or in a dunkin donuts. You know what I am rather fond of though? Buying said bananas at 69 cents a pound and getting a great tasting coffee for under four dollars. Maybe you should take a second and think next time before you repeat government redo-rick. Today they'll go up to someone with dark skin and say "If we think you're an immigrant we can check your I.D." Tomorrow they'll come to YOUR door and say, "Sir we believe you are harboring illegal immigrants so we're going to search your house." and you'll think back to how stupid it was to vote for that new bill, but all the propaganda has made you so afraid that you've given up your constitutional right against search and seizure without probable cause. It's people like you that just mindlessly repeat whatever the government says without thinking about it for yourself that is sending this country down the tubes. For lack of a better word, you sir are a fool.

I beg to to differ! The illegal Europeans are being ignored and the focus is all on Latinos! My mother was born here, I was born here, if I travel to Arizona They will ask for my papers all I have is my drivers license. Common sense tells me not to carry my birth certificate nor my SS card because of identity theft! So tell me how do you distinguish who to question and who not to?! Cops will ignore white skinned people! Don't you think?! How do I establish my citizenship? I am an American!

the last year in particular has made me irate every time i see someone refer to themselves as a "constitutionalist". your assumption is that your interpretation of the constitution is the only possible reading. odd, the founders couldn't agree on the implementation of the document but you're certain you have the one and only (is it divine?) possible reading. the constitution was created in a crucible of dispute, not an assembly of accord. it's application is and should be the same.

    • @ bcimhe and the rest of you misinformed and manipulated souls, propaganda! The United States didn't have a labor shortage.

The Republican / corporate agenda was to increase the supply of labor to lower wages for increased profits, simple supply and demand economics; to artificially bolster the US population with the belief the US needed to do so to compete with the relatively new European Union and emerging China; a large population base also provides both a large pool of people for waging war and increases the size of the consumer economy.

Do you see any of this as having humanitarian benefits for anyone?

Truth be known, the ruling elite of Mexico has a lot vested in maintaining the present failed Bush Republican / corporate model of open borders as the illegals here in the US send back billions of dollars to family in Mexico annually, a significant portion of which is in the form of US assistance - not benefiting US citizens or our country.

Mexico is not a poor nation, it is a very wealthy nation, it's people are poor due to the impoverishment of those ruling elite. Get it right!

You want to help someone besides yourself, go to Mexico and help the Mexican people have a share of the wealth of their country.

during the post wwii and 1980s booms the unemployment rate occasionally dipped under 5%, the point considered by most economists, you should check one of those guys out by the way they are chock full of actual facts, to be full employment. the economy however continued to grow, adding jobs that, now get this, had to be filled by human beings. by the way, major immigration from mexico was occurring long before the e.u. existed or china emerged sa an industrial giant.

you might be interested to know that mexico's biggest trade partner is, now see this is one of those facts from an economist, the united states. a significant portion of the money sent to mexico ends up purchasing u.s. goods from u.s. owned stores.

there's no question that the 5 families of mexico have an interest in maintaining control of mexico's economy. there can also be no question that their influence has stifled the mexican economy. but stating that latino immigration has not been a boon to this economy just proves that you speak from a lack of experience and an abundance of indirect input.

i agree that there are parties that love the current situation allowing the exploitation of illegal immigrants but blaming it on a political party, as if both don't receive billions annually in corporate donations, is also pointless. i believe that the current, republican led charge to deport illegal immigrants is completely race based or there wuold be outrage about white europeans who have outstayed their visas.

if mexican immigration declines it will decline for the same reason that irish immigration declined. conditions in that country will improve to the point that immigrating isn't the only way to improve one's life. try to sell that in d.c.

    • For decades we, the passively complicit people of the U.S., welcomed the people of Mexico as the answer to our economy's serious labor shortage. Suddenly, as a part of a political movement not even tenuously tied to the reality of illegal, immigrant conduct, we are asked to believe that illegal immigrants will destroy our society. If you are willing to take a little time, you can find almost identical rhetoric directed at the Irish, Catholic immigrants of the late 18 and early 1900s. And now much of America pretends to be Irish for St Pat's. It would be nice if, just this once, Americans demanded their representatives pull their heads out of the mud and/or clouds and face an issue realistically...but I don't see that happening.

Cleaning houses, being a nanny, working in a deli etc. are jobs someone who is not an American citizen can have and they can earn 60- 200 dollars a DAY!! If you were illegally enter my home or anyone else for that matter chances are your ass is going to get kicked out! Common sense. Yeah they shouldn't be here but everybody has a choice some people had their parent's bring them here when they were a baby and all they know is the American life.

First of all, the people who benefited the most are CEOs and stock holders and I'm sure they are advocating it but they are not liberals as far as I know and liberals are certainly not them. We - LIBERALS, HUMANITARIANS, ENVIRONMENTALISTS - are advocating for immigration reform so they can start earning their fair share.

You - CONSERTIVATIVE, TEA PARTY, NUTJOBS - are advocating for arresting and deporting these people who risked their lives crossing a desert for a better prospect. Soon, you people are going to start blaming the oil spill on the liberals too. Wait. Oh, shit!

That was by far the most assuming, ignorant post I've seen in awhile. lol. Let’s pick through this comment and, going backwards, see how many assumptions, and preconceived notions it takes to get to the center of Vinicius head, from his response to my comment.

"... benefited the most are CEOs and stock holders …. "

Well no shit ? who were you assuming I was referring too? who benefits from employing workers that are paid below the minimum wage? Pick the best answer A.)illegal aliens. B.) the unemployed American worker whose wages are depressed C) the corporation, business, or Hollywood elitist that pays workers at less than minimum wage and doesn't worry about labor laws?

Next: - "We LIBERALS, HUMANITARIANS...." Somehow I don't believe you are the spokesperson of all things liberal. Regardless, it seems as if you are suggesting that modern day liberalism places a strong emphasis on civil rights. (Correct me if I am wrong.) To which I would counter:

Liberals are to civil rights what conservatives are to fiscal responsibility. PHONIES! Modern day liberalism involves: renewing the patriot act; continuing warrentless wiretapping, continuing extraordinary rendition, keeping Guantanamo Bay open, issuing every citizen a National Biometric I.D. (its in the new immigration bill) requiring all banks to monitor and submit to the government information on the bank accounts of private citizens (in the financial reform bill).

Next: "YOU CONSERTIVATIVE, TEA PARTY, .." I am neither conservative nor a member of the tea party, so your inference skills need much work, as you unwisely and haphazardly attempted to categorize me in your own pre-conceived political stereotype on the basis of my two sentence comment.

Your comment literally could have been posted on its own . As you identify yourself, your arguments , then identify your perceived opposition, and then select their arguments for them.

Illegal alien drug smugglers...Yes...Who's soul purpose is to find the children of the rich and famous and play doctor instead of, say, actually doing some dealing. There's no money in a dead body. Whenever one talks to a white conservative of a certain affluence, they always bring up the good old days when everyone had decent jobs, schools were segregated and minorities were treated like dirt. They miss walking around with that air of superiority they once held dear. They want people with darker skin that don't fit their white European ideal to walk around with papers in their pockets but they would never think to do so themselves. They are megalomaniacs that feel that they are entitled to something simply due to the color of their pink skin. Furthermore, it's a vicious cycle because the same people that are for the law are also against the legalization of marijuana, which would actually put a dent in the cartels finances. The same people against abortion are for the death penalty even though it is unfairly skewed toward women and minorities and so on.

legalizing marijuana would double the cartel's profit...you are moving them from hiding to wide open...(do you really think they would just go away..its the best thing to happen to them)

aborting a helpless fetus is totally fucking different from punishing a MURDERER for his crime against society..again..you need to understand fucking 'accountability and responsibility' and minorities??? come on again get off that colonial "i am a slave" fucking shit its the 2010..the fucking president of this country is a "minority"...

First of all, you need to need learn to write English. Secondly, I am going to go out on limb and say that you are a white male, and say between the ages of 16-20 most likely, with an acne problem. A very lonely individual whose only a source of attention is posting stupid replies. I shouldn't even be responding, but I feel for you. Somewhere down the line someone took your job, stole your girlfriend, and they were probably darker, taller and handsomer than you. Now you have chip on your shoulder. You were too stupid, too ignorant, and too hateful to make it on your own merits so now you blame others. You need get that patriotic dick out your of your ass and stop blaming others for your own shortcomings. As for colonialism, you are living in a dreamworld if you think that had no bearing on our present day America. In fact, almost everything that's really good about America; Mexican food, rock n' roll, even our constitution which was actually based on Native American councils more so than the model of western civilization, owe a direct allegiance to our recent history that has made us what we are, for better or worse. For all the things these "leeches" bring, good food, good music, good family values, lower rates of violence crime, and mental illness than their American-born counterparts, is it really in our best interest to toss them out? They are what is quintessentially American and you are what is wrong with America. They are here to work hard and live. You are the bully kicking them out, if this were the 1800's you would be hanging "Irish need not apply" signs. And by the way, murder is murder. The death penalty is administered unfairly toward minorities and women, check the FACTS, if you don't believe me. We shouldn't play God with anyones life. If you don't want an abortion do not have one, you probably don't have vagina anyway so are out of the debate. Let the women fight this one out amongst themselves because your dick and balls exempt you from the argument. You don't know what it's like for a mother in America. Single mothers earn 60 percent of what a man earns in the same job. It's sentence of poverty for most families, affecting all children born to these women, regardless of gender. These children grow up to be legal delinquents. And it is legal in most states to discriminate against a woman based on her marital and motherhood status. So instead of demonizing desperate women, perhaps it is time to start actually clamoring for all these family values that our lacking in our supposedly pro -family moral country. We could learn a lot from our south-of-the-border fellow North Americans, and they from us and we could enrich each other. Instead of debasing each other.

    • Help me out here. I know that defending the poor defenseless illegal aliens from having to comply with a simple common law has become the latest "fad habit" of the far left wing wackos...but...why?

I am a LEGAL resident of the united states. I have served in the military to my great harm. I am 100% disabled as direct result of combat. I have seven battlefield commendations 3 purple hearts silver star, 2 bronze and 1 arcom all for valor. My children have served in combat. My daughter will deploy to afghanistan in july. Leaving behind her two babies. When WE get pulled over for ANYTHING we have to..."SHOW OUR PAPERS"...license (w/photo i.d. ) & reg. my tag has to be up to date..vehicle inspected...

So....What is it you kooks are whining about? someone who snuck across our borders in amongst criminals and drug dealers & terroists..should not have to do what I have to do????? besides. why don't you just come thru the front door like you had nothing to hide.

how do YOU rate special treatment? Don't you feel that being here in this country is WORTH the effort to come in legally so we don't have to "pick you out of a crowd of criminals?
So I guess you want to just run across the border because its EASIER and not as much trouble...so you want us to rewrite OUR laws to accomdate your LAZINESS. go home bums. put some effort into being here or stay in your OWN wonderful country.

Ask NOT, what AMERICA can do for mexico, ask rather what YOU can do to EARN the right to be here.

What laws will MEXICO change to accomdate Americans. What would YOU do to us if we came down there illegally? um hmmm.

Was that Jeff Fahey also in the trailer ? Too violent for kids to see.
I saw the video without listening to the words. It's a favorite hobby
of mine since I know how to read lips. If that was truely intended as
a pro illegal alien video then there are obviously different levels in
it stratified to be disclaimers. Because what I saw was out and out
warfare openly on the streets. Interesting that there were no cops
on those streets when there would have been S.W.A.T. teams AND
police if the video was intended to reflect reality, and not fantasy.
Pro illegal alien ? Well that's an opinion misrepresented as fact.
      That's the 2nd time in 2 days I've seen Current.com social news
community contributors act like they're glued to FOX TV aka Faux
TV news where their policy is " there are no facts unfit to twist "
Chubby Checker must be snickering at them, bringing " the twist " back.
Used to be called the peppermint twist after the lounge lizzards
who did that dance back in the 1960s. More sachs & violins if you
catch the entendre. Oh, George. Look at the pretty fire coming out
of the Gatling Gun that guy mounted on the front of his hog. Yeah,
Martha, the kids know they're only firing blanks, but they'd rather
look at the pretty pictures too, as we would, rather than read their school books.
Our reptile brain stems can't handle all that cerebral mojo.

I don't live in Arizona or California, I live in New York, crime capital
of the world. My grandparents weren't illegal Mexican immigrants.
They were legal Sicilian immigrants who came through Ellis Island
with their papers, and sailed past the Statue of Liberty. So noone
can call them W.O.P.s (the Italian illegals were forced to hold up
placards against their chests with the initials of the words:
" With Out Papers " to stigmatize themselves ) as a deterrent to
other illegal immigrants. Some, whose brains fire like a 5 watt bulb,
will automaticly presume it was rascist hatred by wasps motivating
this defamatory maltreatment of illegal immigrants. They may claim
that the illegals were only poor people desperate to make a living.
But there's 2 sides to that story. One side reflects the whole picture
and doesn't need to leave out the inconvenient truth to be persuasive.

My grandad was a sailor & a cook on Italian navy dreadnaughts
which sailed to Rio de la Plata where he ordered Argentine dishes
from their waiters. My grandad came to this country from Palermo
where there was still an active volcano, and where the Mafia controlled.
He knew of the plight of illegal immigrants sent here by the Mafia often
ahead of them to spread the scourge of Organized Crime in New York.
For every 100 Italian illegals, there was one mafiosa. In ancient Rome
they might have called them centurions of the faciste. Because once
the mafiosa who dispatched them here knew the Americans finding out
they were illegal would exploit them for dirt wages 10 cents on the dollar
of what legal immigrants could earn...And would have them clean toilets
for that, the mafiosa knew they'd be back working as the eyes & ears &
mules for the Mob. Italians, like Jewish immigrnats formed gangs for their
self protection against rasicst, corrupt cops. The movie Gangs of New York
pretty much sums up the gang warfare amongst the illegal immigrants. And
now, NYC sucks up New Yorkers money long, long after the mob went legit.
As a result of this, and other factors, New York like California is Bankrupt.

The moral of this story isn't at all like that scene from the movie Master &
Commander: The Far Side of the World, where Russel Crowe as the captain
pokes fun at the Captain's mess with his execs about choosing " the lesser
of 2 weevils ". It's instead a tragedy. I blogged an article in May 2010 from Current.com about the 10 most startling facts of crime statistics in the USA. 80% of the Felonies that occur in the USA are gang related Organized Crime.
I myself am the victim of Racketeering. As Psychology grad of the S.U. of N.Y., a 4.0 law student, and a pretty fair Journalistic investigator, I know the situation by a picture bigger than most people want to acknowlege. We know
of the extreme situation in Mexico which has flooded over in the border States.
One of those 10 stats acknowledges a principle Arizona city as the Grand Theft Auto crime capital of the USA. Welcome to New York, and no, it's not
the Statue of Liberty sounding off. I respect the p.o.v. of the Hollywood
luminaries who went to bat for the Hispanic people likely to be victimized
by the abuses of corrupt cops in Arizona as Italians were in New York. For
what it's worth it's not my intention to be a windbag and editorialize here.
California & New York are both Bankrupt. Unless people focus on penalizing
employers of illegals, eventualy everyone will be dragged down by the evils of
unbridled Capitalism worse than they are now. And Arizona will be the next domino.

Mil gracias, amigo. I'd watch anything with Jessica Alba in it.
Like Springtime, she's the morning star of the beauty of nature.
Even in the 1995 episodes of Flipper, a creature waaay more intelligent
than the average human saw yet another creature (her) more interesting than fish.

Question: Do you think that the average person actualy chooses
to work ? Though I'm sure there are those well off enough that
they can choose to work or not to work...And if they choose to work
what job they can accept...,yet it surely can't be the average citizen.
Decades ago I read an article in our County newspaper detailing
how the abject poorest of the southernmost of South American, and
Central American countries emigrate northward across the borders
of their neighboring countries until they get to Mexico. Yet I have never
ever read or heard of anyone mentioning this material fact since. It
appears it's an inconvenient truth noone wants to acknowledge. Yet
this constant migration al Norte spilling over international borders must
put a terrific strain on Mexico in the same way that the displacement
of their citizens wading the Rio Grande, or hoping a remote fence puts
a strain on border States of the USA.

When I lived in San Antonio in the Summer of 1980, I recall asking
someone for directions. They told me they didn't speak English,
and that they were from Mexico City. I knew what they were saying
because I understand Spanish. I stopped to help a family of 10 who
had a broken down car with a dead battery between Houston and
San Anton. I assume they may have been very poor illegals. All over
the Southwest throughout Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, and California
there are hoardes of people lured to the USA by the same myths that
were the propaganda of the 1900s. That in the cities, the cobblestones
are paved with Gold. And that there's work on the farms. The need for
money to live is so powerful, and their poverty so great, that people
from Cuba to Mexico and many other points on the compass will risk
all to find work in the USA. Ask them if they have the luxury to choose.

Your very welcome. Since I haven't posted an actual article in the
nearly 2 years I've been a member of the Current.com social news
community, I've tried to make comments that include little known
facts, humor where appropriate, or even an off the wall approach
to stimulate the discussion. I enjoy reading others' minds because
so long as words aren't cliches, they see past the blind spots of others
      myself included. Thanks again.

    • "these hollywood celebrities are worried they would loose their cheap labor..

keeping these people here under this conditions is nothing more than just SLAVERY"

This statement is absurd. I have no problems with debating the legitimacy and impact of the law in AZ, but this is just hyperbole. We are not bringing the Mexican people over in chains, subjugating their culture and stripping them of their humanity. Such comments bringing any correlation between immigration and slavery are just irresponsible and blatantly ignorant.

Also, I find it a bit hypocritical that this statement would reference 'Hollywood Celebrities' who stand to lose their cheap labor while making no mention of, you know, the actual business' in Arizona that benefit greatly from this very situation. Wild accusations based on nothing but speculative opinion are pretty much useless.
