CBS, NBC and other news outlets are reporting that the official Miss USA promotional photos, which show the contestants pouting in lingerie, may have "gone too far." On NBC's The Today Show this morning, host Matt Lauer channeled his inner Kramer by telling the pageant's president that the photos "seemed designed to generate controversy and buzz about the pageant." NBC, incidentally, will be broadcasting the pagaent from Las Vegas Sunday night "with Today’s Natalie Morales and celebrity chef Curtis Stone handling the hosting duties."
The lingerie photos of each of the 51 contestants were taken in Las Vegas by fashion photographer Fadil Berisha. In a short video (below) taken during the shoots, Berisha explains that it's not just about T&A, it's about moving the pageant into 2010. And it's draining. "I'm inside their soul when I'm pulling things out of them, and I get emotionally exhausted," says Berisha.

I cannot believe these women are willing to let this old man with a camera and an accent convince them to pose on a bed in their underwear for a scholarship. Honey please, there are lots of unclaimed scholarships out there that you don't have to contort your bodies in idiotic half dressed ways to qualify for.

I've never had any Miss USA contestants knocking on my door or calling me up wanting me to be their boyfriend.

who cares... if you go to deviantart or any respectable art site you will see lots of artistic photos of naked or half naked girls... now i havent seen and i don't care about these new pagent photos so i can't really comment on them, but its not a big deal...

I would think that it was an improvement of the hypocrisy of the scandals in the last few years when worse photos surface during the pageant.
At least this way better quality images are used and the paparazzi can't blackmail them so easily
