Let me go by the assumption that you are calming that people who need things bigger than themselves that they have no faith in what they are capable of doing.

Let me give you a list of secular things bigger than me or you or any other single human being:

#1 Government
#2 Family and Friends
#3 The Universe and Nature
#4 The Sun and the light it gives us
#5 The Internet and countless web sites that keep growing every day
#6 The US Constitution and other legal documents that are supposed to protect our freedoms, liberties, and rights.
#7 Our military that go to war so the rest of us don't have to and call them baby killers and other stuff when they come home wounded or mentally ill. All so people have the freedom of speech to say that because of the sacrifices in our military not just by theists but homosexuals and atheists who are also part of something bigger than ourselves the liberal groups out there and homosexual communities and groups.
#8 The Earth itself and the natural resources it gives us.
#9 Dynamic Work Teams
#10 Science, technology, medicine and other stuff that helps us and stops natural selection.

So basically and I might be wrong here, you claim that if you do not believe these things exist or that people who have faith in them have no faith in what they are capable of doing?

Let me say this if you lack faith in yourself, you are skeptical on everything, you keep a closed mind on most stuff you don't like or believe in, and you claim to believe in nothing. Then you are not an atheist but a nihilist instead.

Sure you can live by yourself and have faith in yourself and not things bigger than you are, nor do you believe anything is bigger than you are, I have to ask you a question when a tornado or hurricane comes your way and is bigger than you and something you have no control over, I would really like to know what you can do to survive.

You see you don't have control over many things that are bigger than you. If someone wants to change for real then others can help them, if a person does not want to change then nobody can change them or force them to change. Psychology 101 teaches that. Please don't be like the Neocon Christian Fundamentalists who are only religious so they can use it to get votes into government, screw people over, take advantage of Christian Businesspeople, and then attack anyone different than themselves like atheists, homosexuals, different versions of Christianity, etc. Follow the example of other atheists here who show how good they are and how moral and ethical they are because they believe in tolerance and forgiveness and other good things that are secular and not religious.

Honestly if you lack faith in yourself, you can never have faith in anything else be it God, Buddha, science, business, government, friends, family, etc. :)

I believe in the tangible, the things you brought up are all created by man, except the sun that was from the Big Bang theory . The things I do not believe in are the "super natural". I served in the military, and it is made of individuals who work together for the betterment of the team and the goal of achieving our mission. I believe that we are only limited by our imaginations, and as for other worldly things heaven, hell, God, Buddha, Mohamed, I do not feel the need to believe in those things to justify my morality. I have faith in myself and know that I can do whatever I decide to do.

I never force people into my religion, but I do find myself defending my religion from non-religious people a lot.

There are tangible things you can touch but the universe has nature things that are intangible.

A list of intangible stuff:
#1 Computer Software, it is not the storage device but a series of bits and bytes that develop a pattern that becomes computer software.
#2 Love and other emotions. Can you see, touch, or hear love and other emotions?
#3 Neutrinos once thought to not exist but later found they do exist and stars make them and billions of them pass through the Earth hardly doing anything.
#4 Memories in the human brain.
#5 Your knowledge, education, talents, and skills.
#6 Gravity, you cannot see or hear gravity nor can you touch it but you can feel the effects of gravity.
#7 Morals and Ethics while written down on paper you can understand them, but they have no physical form you can touch.
#8 Freedom, Liberty, and Rights.
#9 Photons and lights, cannot touch them at all.
#10 A vacuum like in outer space, can't touch it can't see it but you know it exists.

While I believe in God and Jesus I do not use them to justify my morality or anything else. When I do good things and help out other people as I often do, I never ask for a reward or money. I do it because people need my help and in some cases there is nobody else available to help them. I freely admit I am a sinner and have done bad things in the past like trolling and annoying people, but I am learning to adapt to change which is what evolution and natural selection is all about. It is not the fittest, strongest, one with the most offsprings, or even the smartest that survive but those species and human beings who adapt to change. Since Christian Fundamentalists and Conservative Republicans don't want to change they are at a disadvantage. So they take the Bible literally instead of taking it figuratively like me and learn from parables Jesus taught, but I also learned from high school and college many different subjects.

You cannot read it and understand it, until you learn to understand the complex methods and terms used in my thesis. Take some college classes on it some day and enlighten yourself to read it again. Failing that get a Dictionary and look up any words you do not understand.

I tried to dumb it down enough that the average person can understand it but I underestimated that and once again talked over everyone heads.

While you appear to be good and smart, you tend to write and come off like some sort of sophist, and not in the classic but modern sense. But reading more books on the subjects you lack understanding of can fix that, might I suggest you try a public library before you buy such books.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart that you said it was good points even if you didn't understand them.

A liberal or atheist with a high IQ and intelligence would have been able to read my entire thesis and then agree or disagree and discuss the strengths and weaknesses of it.

But here I am a moderate libertarian with a 189 IQ who is also a Christian, yet I write a thesis so advanced it goes over most people's heads. Based on this video I should not be able to understand such complex things or even come up with a theory and thesis that has good points.

I wish and hope you the best of luck, while I support your freedom of speech and freedom to have faith and believe or not believe in anything you want and even be non-religious I may disagree with some things you and others wrote. But I will defend to my death your right to choose and give opinions and views on such things to protect your freedom of speech.

Well done HsIV, Lostincali and his partner Nimey have been trying to take control of many web sites using duplicate accounts. I like your style so I will follow you and hope that you and I can work together on other Current topics. They learned my real name and post untrue stuff about me around the Internet and stalk me everywhere I go. Like now they stalked me and found me at Current and they do this type of stalking, harassment, trolling, and even prank call and leave death threats to my phone at 3AM sometimes.

I believe some of the trolls here are sockpuppet dupe accounts they use to vote down or vote up stories at Current. They already claim to run Kuro5hin and other web sites with dupe accounts and tor proxy servers.

While it is true they don't know much about the US constitution and do wipe their butts with it, you are correct that Current is a private company and can remove any comments they consider to be in violation of their TOS. However; I must point out that while liberals and conservatives are saying the exact same things to each other via trolling the other side that Current tends to delete the conservative comments but keep the liberal ones that basically do the same thing. This is called favoritism and in some cases discrimination. But as you know as like me you read and studied the US Constitution and Civil Rights you will notice that political beliefs and opinions and views are not protected. So if Current deletes comments by conservatives and allow comments by liberals who do basically the same thing, while it is a form of discrimination it does not violate any civil rights written yet, and discriminating between hiring an employee based on if they have a bachelors or masters degree is another form of discrimination but a legal one as civil rights laws and the US Constitution does not cover discrimination by education or political party belonging to anyway.

I believe Robin Williams once said "The EU is trying to vote on a Constitution, why don't we just give them our US Constitution. After all nobody is using it anyway might as well donate it to the EU instead."

Even if I am a Christian and I get persecuted for it and trolled on the Internet for it, I am glad at the true liberals and true atheists who go by content of character rather than religion, and religious beliefs and other things. I am not your average or typical Christian and I believe that liberals and atheists are good people and good US citizens and smart and love the USA as much as we theists do and I also apply that to the Homosexual and GLBTT community. I believe I made it quite clear that Intelligence and IQ is relative to the observer to misquote Albert Einstein. :) By citing evolution we all have our ups and downs in our DNA and therefore each human being has a potential to be smart and intelligent at something. For example http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/p/pujolal01.shtml Albert Pujols is smart and intelligent at baseball, and maybe even knows enough about physics to hit the ball better than anyone else, So IQ and Intelligence and one group of people being smarter than another not only is irrelevant, but it is rendered a moot point esp when it does not even follow the scientific method as others have stated be they theists or atheists or conservatives or liberals. science and math are not the only subjects that high schools and colleges teach, so why be bisaed and only measure intelligence and IQ in science and math and not also economics, psychology, humanities, art, music, etc.

Let me give you another example as I can write books based on this stuff: I will write as many words as I can to help you better understand, but if you are not smart or intelligent enough to understand them, I quite wonder why you still claim to be smarter and more intelligent than I am?

There was a scientific test done to measure the IQ in women and men, it used the scientific method and took random samples and had a small margin of error and was peer reviewed etc. It claimed that men were smarter than women and most of the USA believed this and this was before civil rights for women was passed. So women in the USA suffered and some of the smart women had to act stupid or dumb in order to avoid men harassing them or whatever for being smart even if a science theory that was proven showed men were smarter than women. As it turned out even if it was proven, later on someone found it flawed and that in some areas women are smarter than men, and that our education system did not help girls study things like math and science as girls learn differently than boys, so once they change the way education works men and women have just as much intelligence as each other now as a new theory and test was done that disproved the old one. My point of that is even if a scientific theory is proven to be correct and was peer reviewed and followed the scientific method it could still be flawed and wrong and we might not even know it. So take that you sophists! :)

When I was offered MENSA membership I objected to the way the IQ tests (even if I did score higher than most on it) discriminated against those who could not afford college and that the IQ tests do not measure intelligence but actually how much knowledge one can remember from college. Not only that I had friends who were Chinese and had PHDs in nuclear physics and other advanced education and English was their second language so they didn't do too well on a English based IQ test, but in China when they had an IQ test in Chinese they scored higher than most people. I mean really knowledge is not the same as IQ or intelligence, nor is it the same as wisdom or education. I did learn MENSA chess in which every time someone captures a chess piece they have to drink alcohol and the trick to winning such a game is to keep sacrificing your pieces to get your opponent drunk enough so that she or he cannot think clearly enough to win the game. If I was not in MENSA I would not know about stuff like MENSA chess, etc. :)

But clearly because I am a moderate libertarian pirate ninja Christian I must be dumber than a bag of rocks even if I am talking about stuff only someone with a high IQ and intelligence should know.

What is wrong with essays? I always earned A+ on my essays in college. If you read scientific papers they are essays, theses, and long written reports. This topic is so complex you cannot make any sense unless you write a lot of words. But tell you what:

The Myth that Atheists and Liberals are smarter than anyone on the planet for Incoherent Atheists with short attention spans and ADHD and Asperger's Syndrome and other things that make them hate essays. :)

Point #1 Any intelligent or IQ test is flawed especially when it does not follow the scientific method.

Point #2 The same sort of theory that said Men were smarter than Women and did follow the scientific method was found out to be flawed and false later on.

Point #3 Evolutionary Biology has a history of not only being flawed but a history of fraud via Piltdownman and other things. Which does not make it false or untrue, but shows the corruption in science.

Point #4 Most of these IQ tests measure how much one can remember from college and is biased because some intelligent people never got the chance to go to college and some foreigners with English as a second language can score low on an IQ test written in English but high on an IQ test written in Chinese their native language.

Point #5 One can have an high IQ and intelligent in subjects other than math and science which this video refuses to test for other things like humanities, art, music, psychology, engineering, computer science, etc. So not only is the video biased but it is flawed and because it refuses to cover other areas a honest scientist or researcher would call them on their BS.

Human agenda is probably even more responsible for many of the errors as well as so many of the concepts that are woven through out most of its pages. This is what can make it so offensive to so many people.

Lets take for example the parts in the bible that say being a homosexual is blasphemy in the eyes of God. Problem here is that if he created all things then he made it so some people are born gay and thus just by the mere fact of being born, they become a blasphemy in his eyes. Being gay is not a choice contrary to so many ill informed people! There may be some that choose it but most do not. They are born that way. Science is finally beginning to prove this.

So if it isn't a choice then how is it fair or right for a fair and just God to create a human being to be gay? He would cease to be fair and just. Being gay is repulsive to some straight people. It always has been, this is where the agendas come in. If it repulses someone sufficiently and they are in a position of religious power they will include in their writings that God condemns it and those guilty of it will go to hell. God must condemn it otherwise it wouldn't be so repulsive to a religious person. Consequently, the gay person is left to either change by praying it away or they go to hell. In the mean time, they are persecuted by the religious folk that don't understand it to the point were many have been put to death for it or they take their own life. I am not gay but I have witnessed some one grow up with the issues of being gay. I can promise you, IT IS NOT A CHOICE!

It's used for the physical sciences, not philosophical concepts!
For Philosophy, we use Logic- a concept as foreign to you as the scientific method.

You want to try the scientific method, OK, let's do that.

1.) The Question- Is there a God? Or, more precisely, Should we believe there is a God?

2.) Observation. No sign of God. No evidence of God's interaction. Through history as Science has evolved, it has explained concepts previously believed to be miraculous- the structure of the universe, DNA, the big bang, evolution. The universe is there to observe, and there is no evidence for God in anything we have observed.

3.) Hypothesis - There is no reason to believe there is a God.

4.) Experiment- like I said, this is Philosophy, not a physical science, so there is no way to experiment. If Religionists could provide some data to experiment on, we could experiment.

5.) Analysis- Still waiting for Religionists to provide data to analyze.
The few they have, such as ID proponents stating that pattern is evidence of design, can be explained with Chaos theory and fractal mathematics, that show that patterns arise through iterated systems.

6.) Conclusions. No data to experiment with, no results to analyze, no evidence for a God at all. The scientific method got stuck on step 4.

CONCLUSION: There is no rational reason to believe that a God exists.

Step 7 is Publish and peer review. I'm posting it here, so that will count.

That is not the scientific method, thanks for trying anyway. Sure hope you decide to learn how science works someday. The Hypothesis is not falsifiable by the way. "There is no reason to believe there is a God" is not scientific at all by the way. It only shows your ignorance of how science works.

Let me use something secular here and based on math to show you what a real one looks like via flipping a coin:

* null hypothesis (H0): fair coin;
* observation O: 14 heads out of 20 flips; and
* p-value of observation O given H0 = Prob(≥ 14 heads or ≥ 14 tails) = 0.115.

Now that is a valid hypothesis that can be tested and is falsifiable. Yours wasn't even scientific and was highly biased and based on non-scientific things.

You cannot prove a reason for anything using the scientific method. But if you want a reason for believing in God, it is so that God will punish you after you die and put evil and selfish and people who persecute religious people in Hell after you die. The reason God exists is to bring about justice to those of us who have been wronged by people like you. Then God takes the people who did more good than evil and cleans them up and puts them in Heaven.

Another reason for believing in God is to know he believes in you and loves you, so he works in mysterious ways to pay you back for the goodness and kindness you do for others.

I haven't seen you do anything but selfish narcissistic things for yourself and every person different than you, you tend to call stupid and other hateful things.
