Scandal: Lord Nelsons' ship is short of water

Four days before battle Lord Nelson is desperate to hush up the news of the water shortage on the Victory, though he cannot stop the Telegraph from revealing this scandalous tale after receiving a leaked letter he wrote on the ship dated October 17th 1805.

Even before the tabloids nestled themselves on corner shop counters, officials were worried about what the papers would find out. In a letter to Admiral John Knight, Nelson asked him to keep quiet over his fears of a water shortage aboard the victory.

"In it Nelson states that he is running out of drinking water, but warned the governor to "keep this news to yourself or we shall see it in an English newspaper..." "-Telegraph

The letter is set to be sold at Sotheby's and is reported it could reach £12,000 in price. If history and a touch of present day mixes like this again, I suspect Hadrians' Wall will turn out to be an early form of the Pay Wall.
