10 Signs the US is Becoming a Third World Country

Image
rodstradamus
The United States by every measure is hanging on by a thread to its First World status. Saddled by debt, engaged in wars on multiple fronts with a rising police state at home, declining economic productivity, and wild currency fluctuations all threaten America’s future.

The general designations of the ranking system for world status date back to the 1950s, and have included countries at various stages of economic development. Since the Cold War, the definition has come to be synonymous with repressive countries where a wealthy class of ruling elites segment society into the haves and have-nots, many times capitalizing on the conditions that follow an economic crisis or war.

While much of the world is still mired in poverty, the reduced cost of innovative tools such as computing and connectivity ironically puts traditional Third World countries at the forefront of a new lean-and-mean economy that is based on ideas of empowerment for the disenfranchised. For better or worse, the world is leveling due to Globalism.

However, America and other over-leveraged countries face this re-balancing of the globe at a time when they have dwindling resources. We can speculate about who and what is to blame for America’s fantastic fall, but for the purposes of this article we shall focus on the obvious signs that the United States is beginning to resemble a Third World country.

1. Rising unemployment and poverty:
2. Economic dependence:
3. Declining civil rights:
4. Increasing political corruption:
5. Military patrolling the streets:
6. Failing infrastructure:
7. Disappearing middle class:
8. Devalued currency:
9. Controlling the media:
10. Capital Controls:

explanations and more at link...

What a shame! If people only knew the Truth about 9/11 and the New World Order, then we might have a chance to save this country.

    • I'm really am sick of the "I'm awake/you're asleep or a sheep" attitude of the foil hat club whose tiresome rants have continued to spill on to this website over the past couple of years. The narcissistic tendency to beleive that you somehow possess secret knowlege unavailable to the "sheeple" has become ridiculous even to the casual observer.
ps if you want to check out a third world country go somewhere like haiti, ethiopia or burma where they have everything you so skillfully cut and pasted from someone else's website. as a matter of fact you should leave now.

    • Well, where I live, there is a thriving underground illegal alien economy. Nobody pays taxes, they have babies for free at the local hospital, while anyone else has to pay approximately $20,000. There are 2 and 3 bedroom houses with 20 people living in them. The values of the houses here are down about 40% over the last 3 years. Real, living wage paying jobs are being replaced by day laborers that PAY NO TAXES, no workmens comp, no insurance, no nothing.

We are damn close to becoming a third world country.

Well Paratus, there are a lot of people in this country that feel entitled to having what others have, without any effort, without working for it. They also feel that the squatters that are taking over our country, deserve to be here, because they let their own country become a corrupt, murderous place to live, where the cops are on the take, the municipal officers are on the take, where the whole damn government is on the take, so it's ok for them to just come here and take over. Pretty soon, if it isn't happening already, when somehow they get the government to legalize them, and they start electing their own people, the corruption will become rampant here. After all, it's completely accepted in Mexico.

And the number of people on this site that hate anyone that has made a success of themselves, such as Bill Gates, or any of the oil guys, or any of the other big computer guys, is incredible. They aren't willing to work for what they want, so they hate those that are working for what they want.

Right. And who isn't paying half the FICA taxes for those workers? Who is making the profits off their cheap untaxed labor? Which industries wouldn't have a business model if those illegal workers weren't here?

Who pays congress people to pass bills (or not) in this country who could fix this problem in a heartbeat? Who paid to get NAFTA passed?
You're nailing the wrong people. You're falling for the baiting they're putting out for you.

Soon, after more than a decade of capital flight from the US to create jobs somewhere else, it will be American citizens going across borders to work illegally! Watch out Canada. Who gains from all of this? These are the people who should be nailed.

But, we'll never hear about them in this corrupt Media reporting about anything going on in this country. Because divide and conquer and manipulation of voters is the way the Ruling Elite have always kept low taxes, profits from war budgets, profits from two tier labor markets and all the scapegoating that ensures that.

And this is the way our Top taxpayers earn their money? Which is protected as Private Property by this Bogus Supreme Court? We get what we deserve as a nation by this hypocrisy, indifference and willful ignorance!

Our politicians and businesses made their country corrupt. Our CIA meddles in these countries to serve our corporate interests. They're also making our country pretty corrupt. There is plenty of history on this and reporting by whistleblowers. Read "confessions of an economic hit man" by John Perkins. He squeals on decades of how our World Bank and the world's Plutocrats blew up these countries. The reason these people are here is NAFTA which floods their markets with our cheap subsidized corn from all over the Midwest.

By the way, we've let our country become corrupt too, which means so many of us are getting screwed while the Top 1% run Washington. The majority of tax money goes to Military. 50% of income tax take. 60% of US fed budget is FICA taxes which will be paid back to the people who paid them in.

These illegals having babies in public hospitals is tiny in comparison to what goes to the shareholders of military contractors.

"entitlements" in this country are paid for by the people who get them. The choice of use of that term is propaganda. They are entitled because they paid for it, and they worked for it.

The only people who don't work are the Top 1% who send cheques to congressmen and 501c3s for propaganda to ensure they don't have to pay taxes on the money their grandparent's made. Much of that from WWI and WWII. Even Civil War if you count the railroad fortunes, who got their start when state land was GIVEN to them to build railroads. They've always been subsidized, and now they get special abilities to game the system to keep their taxes low, and middle class in spiral. I know these people from the industrial revolution who winter in Naples. And yes, they do expect a lot to be given to them from the people who really do the work, take all the risks, and provide all the growth in this country. Too bad now, middle class kids can't get their educations and can't work cause there are no jobs since the Capital has been invested in China, Brazil. India, and Russia. Mexico here we come for 100M echo-boom kids under the age of 24 yrs, bigger than the Baby Boom!

    • Ever been to a third world country? Are all the roads and bridges and power lines just going to disappear? the US has already been developed, it would take a long time for everything to just collapse. We're definitley losing freedoms and the media is controlled and people are getting poorer but I don't think many people are going to go hungry, maybe just not have as much money to buy stupid shit they don't need. That might be a crisis for a lot of Americans, but maybe it will open their eyes.

Enough with YOU conspiracy theorist knocking Infowars. Look through the propaganda being fed to you by the mainstream, be it Fox or MSNBC, or your favorite slanted web site. Fact is this nation is ruled by corporations, for the benefit of corporations. Infowars gives people a good starting point to research this issue. Ultimately it's up to the reader to sift through the bullshit as you would any other source, if you're serious about the truth, and not just ideology. But I for one am finished arguing with you people about who's in control of this rock, and who's gonna bnefit from their rule. It's the corporations and they don't care about you. Wake Up!

Also, I call bullshit on Infowars. We will be back up again economically until the next Recession as always. So you can blab all you want about your modern day Legion of Doom known as the NWO and what not but the United States will eventually see better days unlike your constant doom and gloom about depopulation or somehow the UN gains power out of nowhere (They got kicked out of Sudan recently LOL, which shows how useless they are). Anyways, Conspiracy theories are a lazy way to explain the complexity of the economic and political system and oh, a great way to make ALOT of money and followers.

Explain the economics dear sir. While you are at it, explain how this america of yours is going to work out just fine and dandy. Rome had its day also. Oops, no more Rome. How did that happen? Agreed, a lot of lazy wackos out there on every side of the issues. But relying on a political solution, when that venue is bought and paid for is a little naive and gives what? False hope. It is all about the numbers and production. We just service debt and consume in this country. Not viable.

Why are people so afraid of other languages?

We share a border with a Spanish speaking nation, it's only natural that we incorporate Spanish into our culture. It has nothing to do with becoming a 3rd world nation.

      Concentrated wealth and rising violence.

Concentrated wealth in the US now tops the world, more than Mexico. Scholars at UVermont say that concentrated wealth is the greatest indicator of violence in a society, not absolute poverty. Concentrated wealth countries waste more money on military and security than more equal countries because the wealthy few have to protect themselves from the teeming impoverished masses, who they view as resentful and untrustworthy. These societies are also where plutocrats give money to religious institutions to keep teaching backward religion to keep women uneducated, girls marginalized, and boys and men end up uneducated, under-skilled and employed in militarized jobs in a violent life. Surprise surprise we have so many fundamentalists in the US, where top Plutocrat families fund Focus on the Family and other right-wing religious groups to promulgate these religions. Diddo Saudi Arabia, and diddo Israel where wealth concentration is equivalent to Mexico.

James Galbraith says these countries also have slow job growth and dependence on military because the money is concentrated in few hands and they feel no pressure to invest or do anything to make money. He says this is the reason Europe shows slow job growth, not their high taxes and social safety nets. UK, Spain, Greece, Italy, France have the highest concentrated wealth and slow job growth, while Germany, Scandinavia, Netherlands have more equality and more robust job creation.

Because they have no skills to make money, but huge capital at their backs, they start asset bubbles first in and end up cleaning up with those first out taking all the winnings from the last in/last out. Look where asset bubbles always happen since the 1980s, and the countries where the worst depressions are now: USA, UK, Spain, Ireland. All high concentration wealth countries with heavy Anglo-American capitalism influence.

Concentrated wealth is the reason for most of your 1 - 10 reasons, but this one you leave out! Shows you don't know causation, only obvious tip of the nose stuff! Need to get to the cause. The "men behind the curtain" you are being good boys and "paying no attention to..." like the Wizard of Oz told you!

All was supposed to have happened years ago but they could not subdue the USA. Time to protect your families and neighbors. Vote OUT Obamas bunch in November and it will put a stop to the NWO. Bush was the same way Obama is now, same game with a different face that people are supposed to accept. Be ready when the time comes to Fight.

The New World Order? Are you serious? Most countries can't even balance their budgets. Consider, a New World Order could only exist in a world where everyone is satisfied and no one is trying to rock the boat. Other than that, discontent, anger, poverty and greed will always keep the masses roiling with discontent and unwilling to accept that the new chains will be any better than the old.

      11. You're an idiot.

The wealthiest 1 percent of the population earn 19 percent of the income but pay 37 percent of the income tax. The top 10 percent pay 68 percent of the tab. Meanwhile, the bottom 50 percent—those below the median income level—now earn 13 percent of the income but pay just 3 percent of the taxes. These are proportions of the income tax alone and don’t include payroll taxes for Social Security and Medicare.

It isn't and I wouldn't term those "conspiracy theories" as "right-wing" b/c when you research the NWO, you realize the right wing and left wing are 2 sides of the same bird, both bought and paid for with different scripts. Fox News, Glen Beck, Sarah Palin are no different than MSNBC, Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow. Its actually a joke to me that so many still believe the government and television when the Truth about 9/11 only takes about 10 minutes of research to figure out. Step your game up, do some research and put the pieces together; we don't have time for naivety, self censorship and intellectual weakness.

Totally agree. Media is a "product" in the USA that has to appeal to different tastes. They know what markets they're going for and what market they're trying to create. In the fearful mass middle they want to break some off the center for the right and so Fox has that job of fanning flames and inciting fear and hatred. They have to divide and conquer and manipulate in order to control. They had to get ownership of media concentrated and get rid of fairness doctrines in order to get this machine firmly in their hands. Came too close for comfort 1960s when media was diverse and reporting on the war and social unrest too much from too many viewpoints. They almost lost their hold on the nation's minds and assets back then.

Fortunately, under Reagan they got rid of fairness doctrines. They got rid of Congress funding for PBS and the dangerous people there trying to do real reporting. Then finally under Clinton they got the ownership restrictions lifted so now 8 corporations control 80% of the media/entertainment/sports in the whole country. Down from 50 in 1980. They had to get this, and they had to use Murdoch and his money as their tool. Now they have Clearchannel too. Richardsons of Texas control Disney and ABC. GE controls NBC, and CNBC. Gates controls MSNBC. Viacom controls CBS. Time Warner controls CNN and look what propaganda for Petraeus they put on their cover last week! It is all a joke!

There are no obligations to report any truth to American citizens. All exhibited by how they use CNBC and Jim Cramer et al to pump up the Bubbles to lure the suckers in who will be last in/last out when they finally pull out and cause the Bust. If you have any doubts about this game check out Jon Stewart's saga about Cramer. It is a joke to trust your money with these so called "markets".

The Supreme Court even lets them incite Americans against other Americans, foreigners, or immigrants we know damn well the drafters of NAFTA knew would be coming over that border to work in our food and construction industries. But, they can't tell the US citizens that, besides they need a second class citizen to scapegoat when the Bubble Busts. They had Jews in 1930s. and they need Latinos today. And Muslims of course!

All eyes off the people really pulling the strings, making a killing, and paying Politicians to pass that NAFTA bill in the first place now more than 10 yrs ago! Find out who paid $1M to get the AZ anti-Latino bill passed? Who paid to whip things up on gay marriage? Who pays to whip things up on gun rights? You'll see what kind of people are really behind all this political theater to distract us from their own class who cause the Bubble Busts, lure in the little guy into inflated asset markets, pay no taxes, squirrel money away offshore depleting US business and jobs, all the while using the media to lie, distort, deflect, scapegoat "created equal" citizens who are not treated equal by this Supreme Court. There will be hell to pay by this Court when this whole game is said and done. Their names will be mud in history books like Nero!

    • The people who have repeatedly returned the nations most corrupt, worthless selfserving parasites to Washington know damned well for more that a hundred years that politics was and still is the biggest crime syndicate in the Western world. With this totally corrupt and ignorant pack of democrats serving Goldman Sachs and the likes of AIPAC, is there any question who the real leaders of this nation are? Israel has more power than the CFR elected president who is bound to take advice and orders from outside The USA not from the people inside. And don't ever think a politician is going to Washington to serve you. When he arrives, he is strong armed by the old time hard liners and coerced into following the congressional line or be black balled and pushed aside. Faces like Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi and Boehner are likely to be seen everywhere even in the restrooms, An old bit of advice is: "Fool's names like their faces always seen in public places" hence the camera hugging politicians. These are the people who have given Europe the new International currency; The EURO". And everyone is standing up to give the middle finger, Like Rangel says, he wants to flash his middle finger because they will not let him play with our taxes money and constitutional protections from the likes of him.
