What Happens When A Liberal Black Man Goes To Glenn Beck's "I Have A Dream, Too" Speech?!?

Common sense would tell you a liberal black man has no business at a Glenn Beck/Sarah Palin rally. And that's exactly why I went. Here are my random observations, with lots and lots of photos.

    • Good narative.
      Thanks.

Looking at the pics...i don't see how anyone could even think there were a few hundred thousand people there.
      I'll go with 80 to 90 thousand.

    • "As I was trying to leave, a bunch of people tried to squeeze through the crowd, coming from the opposite direction. I tried slipping past, and a guy coming toward me barked "Wait your turn!" Momentarily stunned, I got back at him the best way I knew how. As he pushed his way by, I slipped my hand into his bag and smoothly stole his mini "Don't Tread!" flag. It's sitting on my desk as I type this. See what happens when you invite black folks to your event?"

      thats hilarious.

    • Glen Beck and Sarah Palin are complete racist, ignorant, arrogant fools but dangerous fools because their hate speech has somehow inspired hundred of thousand idiotic, frighten, POLITICLY organized Americas. They deserve to be mocked but to ignored them and dismiss them as a radical fringe group is going to be surprised come 2012.
I found this story extremely interesting and entertaining and agree that it is first person accounts like these that make Current special. The only problem is the author is treating this rally as a circus side show and not a vision of the way fear and isolation is going to shape the political landscape of this country unless the rest of the country wises up and becomes just as organized. Massive unemployment, raising health care costs, a housing crisis, a nine year war with no end in sight and an economy that is recovering at a snail pace has the nation frightened. And, we all know fear mongering is what the GOP is expert in exploiting. The democrats have taken their traditional power base, minorities, labor unions and working families for granted. They are feed up with the Democratic party and are beginning to look for answers also where.
      Still a great story.

    • "Black folks are everywhere by default" is my favorite line from this really funny/honest post . I only wish you didn't use the porta-potty it's so awful without the old fashioned ideas i'm surprised they didn't label the the ones for 'Whites " and the other one "colored. I 'm glad you witnessed this blecktastic event you did it so others didn't have to Travis Smiley was taking his yoga class and Marion Berry was late because he was just at church . I really liked this and it was worth the 5 hours , for me . nicely done

    • Laughed out loud at the part when the lady grabbed your wrist. I must say you're better than me because my first reaction when someone grabs me in any way is not mild curiosity. Very well written article, we need more people like you.

    • I watched the rally on youtube and felt the same dry let-down by the end of it all. Thanks for sharing.
