Long before professional wreslting had become the odd cultural staple appealing to our nations youth that it is today, the crybaby gimmick was used to draw heat (wrestle speak for attention).
From Crybaby Corby in the 50's to present day G.L.O.R.Y wrestling's use of the crybaby gimmick for one if its top stars.
In this century old manor of simplistic theater and gimmickery, Crybaby Cannon was probably the most notable.His gimmick as a manager, was to cry when his guy lost.To garner undeserved attention, George Cannon would let the tears flow as an act of passion.
If you listen to fox radio between nine am and noon, or fox t.v. between 5pm and 6pm (depending on market i suppose) this should seem like familiar behavior.
Glenn deserves a spot in the Prowrestling hall of fame as his use of this gimmick has become engrained in american culture to a degree none of those who came before him had.(well maybe televangalists)
Glenn is to the crybaby schtick as Sgt. Slaughter is to patriotism schtick.The sarge brought it to G.I. Joe and Beck has brought it to conservative america.
