Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert testified before Congress today about immigration during a hearing called "Protecting America's Harvest."
Colbert appeared with United Farm Workers (UFW) President Arturo S. Rodriguez before the House Judiciary Committee's Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, Refugees, Border Security, and International Law. In August, the comedian spent a day working at a corn and vegetable farm in New York state after Rodriguez appeared on his show to discuss UFW's "Take Our Jobs" campaign.
The effort is intended to debunk the theory that undocumented immigrants are taking jobs away from American citizens and highlight the fact the nation's food supply is dependent on these farm workers.

Problem is it is not just farm workers, here in Kansas the are taking over the highway jobs all the Construction jobs. Don't try to tell me they are just he to pick crops. Send all their asses home, and quiet paying them all our tax money for every damn program they can get on. Hell they get paid more than someone that has paid into the system their whole life, that's ready to retire.

I am a big fan of colbert and recognize the shtick that he pulls off in his character as a representation of questionable republican ideology but i can't understand why you would bother going to a congressional hearing "in character" although i also understood their was a method to his madness i just dont think he needed to do it "in character"...maybe roger clemens should show in a baseball uniform with needles in his ass next time if you catch my drift lol

I'm at a loss for words at what Stephen Colbert is doing. Most celebrities try to squeeze their way into a movie or two to try and make some extra dollars on the side and to boost their stardom. But it's obvious that Colbert doesn't want to be an actor. No, he's a politician. He even said, "I want to use my stardom to try and help these migrant workers." He isn't out to make a few extra dollars, he's out to help out an entire culture from being shunned by the American people.
