when i read this elsewhere I was annoyed by the ridiculous arguments that "babies see boobs all the time" and thus the controversy is being blown out of proportion. seriously? yeah, children sometimes still even bathe with their parents which is just a normal natural act of closeness. the difference here is that women are objectified and I feel that children shouldn't be desensitized to the sexuality the media presents to adults as a norm. perry obviously wants so badly to retain her sexy lady image so much she wears a low cut dress even on the street. whats more upsetting, however, is that sorry excuse of a remake. REALLY REALLY bad.

Wardrobe pretty much dropped the ball here. Not only was that dress kind of inappropriate for a program primarily viewed by toddlers, but it just looked tacky, too.
Just put her in a different dress and re-do the segment.

I think this is just a case of a lot of people dropping the ball. It's hard to blame Perry (unless she forced the issue and was being difficult about wardrobe) - you have producers and wardrobe people on set who should have thrown a flag well before shooting started. They understand the needs of the show far better than she does. I don't really blame SS for pulling the segment. Parents were upset and those are the viewers they need to appease. It's not about being prudish or promoting censorship; it's just about respecting your target audience.

She isn't banned and they have already asked her back to do another segment. they received a lot of negative feedback and decided not to air the clip on tv but it was still available on YouTube. the show is aimed at very young viewers i dont see the big deal in asking her to wear an outfit in which her tits didn't almost fall out. All you assholes who defend people such as Howard stern by stating that if people dont like it not to watch it should realize that most parents of preschool kids dont want them to watch her tits and if you dont like that then quit watching sesame street and get a job.

I think they are planning on having her back again. Elmo said in an interview that he wants to have another play date with ms perry..

If i was 5 and watched katy perry on sesame street like that it would warp my mind, i think they were right to ban it, there is no need for her to be dressed like that, she knows that show is for kids, what type of person wants themselves to appear to children like that?

Well... the producers and wardrobe people should have also put more thought into it. .

Couldn't they have asked her to wear a different dress just as easily?
Stop her before the cameras roll?
I mean, I'm hard pressed to find anything I care less about than Katy Perry being on Sesame Street, but this whole banning her segment ordeal, well it's a little goofy.
I guess it gets them some media spotlight though.Seriously, though. Why didn't they just ask her to go back to wardrobe and find something a little more... children's programming? Was it a straight shot from wardrobe to Elmo's house, with cameras on timers?

the dress is not even that bad its better then what most people wear on t.v. if the show had such a big problem with it they should have done a costume change before the filming the show .

Honestly, I don't have a clue who she is.
But, her dress was somewhat inappropriate- and I wonder how the Sesame Street staff, directors and producers did not notice.
All in all, it's not a big deal if kids see a pair of tits.
Heck, that's what tits are there for- to feed kids!

ehh.. I don't think toddlers are going to be thinking about teen sex when watching that video...but I do agree that she probably wasn't the best choice of people to book on a kids program. Taylor Swift would have been more appropriate for that kind of segment.

Only if you want to encourage teen pregnancy. Let the kids
be ignorant of sex and realize an innocent childhood for as
long as they can. Their parents will tell you they grow up to
fast as it is. - 2 years ago
