SOUTH PARK! Has iTunes gone too far?

I personally think so for their behavior pertaining to South Park's highly contraversial episodes 200 and 201 where, for those of you who don't know, the Prophet of the muslim faith, Muhammad, must come to South Park to stop the evil Tom Cruise and his gang of celebrities from suing the town so that that have nothing left. This is South Park's greatest achievement in my opinion. They brought back every joke from previous seasons and tied them all together to create a non-stop laugh-athon of hilariousness that keeps you on the edge of your seat in disbelief of what your watching.
Not only were these episodes pulled from the air, but pulled from the iTunes store shortly after 200 was released. I was one of the lucky few to purchase this episode before it vanished, but have been in dire need to get ahold of an uncensored version of 201.
For all of those people who enjoy buying season passes to television shows on iTunes and happened to buy South Park's 14th season pass, I feel for you. You paid 32 dollars for an incomplete season where they have completely censored out the episodes 200 and 201. Is it not bad enough that those episodes are now nowhere to be found online? I had to use a torrent to download 201 and, to my dismay, discovered that it was the version that had been aired live on comedy central with the name "Muhammad" bleeped out along with all the swear words and the entire ending of the episode where Stan, Santa, and Jesus tell the world what they learned in that episode. So after dealing with all the annoying bleeps throughout the episode you have to deal with a giant minute long bleep at the end where people are talking. Just talking. Not swearing. Not doing something dirty and disgustingly raunchy. They were talking into the camera.
iTunes needs to either refund peoples money or release the episodes like they should've done from the beginning.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone are two of my idols because of what they accomplished with the series South Park. But for what they did with 200 and 201 they are now god-like. Never before has a TV show been censored the way these two were.
I believe that the two men have grown tired of South Park and were trying to go out with a bang by bringing back old jokes and questions and characters who fell off the map and intertwined them in a way that you couldn't help but laugh. I think we should all appreciate them and their work and allow them to leave South Park behind on a good note and move on to new things.
My point on that being that if you watched their latest episode of season 14 that aired on wednesday of this week you'd see how lazy the writing is and how much they don't care about being on the air. They have given up on television.

Neither of these episoses were aired at all in the UK, not even the censored ones. Cheers Comedy Central UK, for supporting your fans. /sarcasm.

I will admit to using itunes frequently, but this is BS. It only makes people pirate it illegally.

The internet is a place of free speech and a place where average jerkoff's like myself can click onto and have a voice. So why is it okay for these two above average jerkoff's to have their cartoon show erased from the internet? Their voice erased from the internet? Their artistic expression erased?

Yeah it sucks that they got censored, but what did you/they expect. If you want to see it you'll just have to buy the DVD set when it comes out I guess. I don't like that they got censored, but in someways I thought it was kind of funny that they bleeped out Muhammad, because that way the crazies had to fill in the blanks themselves without definitive proof that they should actually be offended.

I understand why it was censored on tv. Children can click over and see it accidentally or an adult can watch it and get offended. But the fact that it's unavailable online is stupid. The internet is an amazing place because everybody has a voice and can say whatever they like. They might be wrong or ignorant or racist or stupid but they can still say what they want. Just because porn is morally wrong and offends people doesn't mean it should be taken off the internet. Trey and matt should be allowed to play their show online and even sell it on the itunes store if they choose, just not air it on tv. I wouldn't recommend airing porn on tv.

I, too, was lucky enough to view Episode 200. But that pesky 201 still eludes me!!!
Let the record also state that I participated *HEAVILY* in "Everybody Draw Muhammad Day." How I despise religious oppression.....

I was lucky enough that my girlfriend at the time was able to download a bootleg of episode 201 before it got shut down. Hands down one of their best episodes ever.

You actually have a point.
I think the South Park Mohamed episode was irresponsible.
I mean, they made some great social commentary, but ultimately Trey and Matt were just throwing rocks at a hornet's nest. - 1 year ago

They also took The Super Best Friends episode from season 5 that showed Muhammad uncensored off of Netflix Instant Play. You can still watch the episode uncensored on DVD. I guess showing Muhammad as a cartoon is only ok if it's on DVD.
As for blaming iTunes, we should be blaming Viacom, the company that owns Comedy Central and South Park. They're the ones who censored the 201 episode and took the episodes off of iTunes, Netflix, and South Park Studios.com

My friend jubal, let's remember that Apple gave money to the "No on 8" campaign.... It's a good company (for more reasons than that). In this specific case, I imagine we should blame Comedy Central & not Apple.

So.
We've got Americans getting arrested for not saying the pledge of allegiance and we've got a network and two cartoon creators receiving death threats from religious extremists.
This is one of the most well written episode arcs of any comedy show featured on television. They gracefully brought back the ridiculous plot lines and non sensical jokes and presented logic within them.
It's suspenseful and epic, with the story building towards the revelation of a lot of unanswered questions presented through out the show. The biggest, and most legendary, being the question of "Who is Cartman's father?"Unfortunately, most did not get to watch the dramatic conclusion of the 200-201 arc, as it was banned from the air. Comedy Central added last minute censoring to the episode, even going as far as bleeping Muhammad's name.
This was done in a response to a post on a radical Muslim website:
RevolutionMuslim.comOn this post, they claimed that they duo outright insulted the Muslim prophet (which I assure you they did not) and that Matt and Trey were now in danger.
Accompanied with the post is a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, the Dutch filmmaker who was shot and stabbed in 2004 by a fanatic who was angered by his film about Muslim women (written by a Muslim woman).Regarding the rationalization for including that picture, the post's author, Abu Talhah Al-Amrikee, had this to say:
"We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them."
Yeah, that's sure not a threat. Especially when he included the addresses to Comedy Central's New York office and Parker and Stone's California production office.
It's not a threat at all.
The radical site is currently down, as well.http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-504083_162-20003151-504083.html
If there is a point to this madness, let it be that we are losing the last finger hold we have on free speech, and should no longer turn a blind eye to it.
Itunes has refused to provide 200 and 201 with their 14 season pack, available for $31.99. Without the classic episode arc, they should really be charging $19.99, but don't tell them that, or complain on their message boards about the unavailability of 200 & 201. Because they've developed a new hack for deleting posts that they find objectable, not due to offensiveness or vulgarity, but because they don't want to discuss their decision.
Fuck Comedy Central, Viacom, Itunes, RevolutionMuslim, and Tom Cruise.
