    • Do you know what is the difference between the right-wing in the USA and the right-wing in the UK? The USA right-wing cuts taxes and runs the country into the ground, whereas now the UK right-wing is raising taxes to bring the UK out of its economic quagmire.

Busted. Just trying to get back at all the Brits (who admittedly have fine American accents) that are showing up on our TV shows (Hugh Laurie among them). Sorry, just trying to shoot a sketch. I will work on the accent. Promise.

It's a pity we live on different continents - I could train you if you were in my area... I speak pure British - a cross between the Queen's English and BBC English. Not kidding you. :)

I will say that occasionally I will listen to an audiobook with a British reader (such as Tony Britain reading Dick Francis mysteries) and hear American accents that don't ring true to me. Also, the Pythons in "The Meaning of Life" did a very odd, flat American accent in those parts of the film that I could tell were not authentic. Funny, but not real. So, I understand your frustration. I can't necessarily tell a fake British accent (unless it's really bad), but I do know when an actor is speaking with a bad American accent. Tom Wilkinson is hit or miss sometimes, though a great charactor actor.

It is indeed. I am in certainly in need of training. I am a pretty good mimic- if I am exposed to an accent, I can usually recreate it for a couple of days. I impulsively did the video without watching something that had that accent. However, It would be far better to learn an accent and re-create it whenever needed.
