Festivus for the rest of us: America celebrates

Across the country Americans are celebrating Festivus. From the Pacific to the Atlantic, Americans are preparing to participate in feats of strength, the airing of grievances, and the gathering around the aluminum Festivus pole.

Festivus is a secular holiday celebrated on December 23rd. Without religion, Festivus is a holiday celebrated by those frustrated with the commercialism and religious pressures surrounding the holiday season.

    • I personally feel that Christmas is still OK to celebrate as an athiest. All adults agrees that Santa is made up, but we athiests just take it one grown-up step farther. Make beleive is still fun for adults even if it just means seeing how excited kids get about it.

The comercialism is a total waste of money if people don't buy practical things their family members need. On the up side, I always know I'll have enough socks and underwear to get me through the year after X-mas.
