Twelve hours ago, 23-year-old performer and writer George Watsky's roommate posted a video of him rapping in his bedroom to reddit. In that time, the video has been frontpaged on the site and is currently blowing up on YouTube, with over 74,000 views so far.
What's so appealing about this dude? Well first of all, he raps at Busta Rhymes-level speeds (he's actually using the beat from Rhymes' 'Break Ya Neck' in the video). But the truly awesome thing is that his raps don't suck! Yes, you read that correctly.
There is truly a young white internet rapper out there whose rhymes aren't about beer bongs and ~CoLLeGe LyFe~.
Granted, he does burp on command during the song. But Watsky's an accomplished spoken word performer so he's got some chops. He's done Def Poetry Jam and pwned (video after the jump).
I'm just glad he's branching out to music too. We need less Asher Roth on this internet and more talented dudes with tiger posters and a cat on their desk.
