you know honestly i wouldn't trade any of my bibles for porn. i have a short attention span for porn. i might trade for a koran or a bhagavad gita.
i think that trading a bible for 1 minute on stage in front of a large cheering crowd would get a greater response.

Horus (Egypt, ~3,000 BCE) was Born on December 25th of the Virgin Isis. His Birth was accompanied by a Star in the East, which Three Kings followed to locate and adorn the newborn Savior.
At the Age of 12, he was prodigal child teacher, and at the age of 30 he was baptized by a figure known as Anup the Baptiser and thus began his ministry.
Horus had 12 Disciples he traveled about with, performing Miracles such as healing the sick and walking on water.
Horus was known by many gestural names such as "the Truth", "the Light", "God's anointed Sun", "The good Shepherd", "the lamb of God" and many others.
After being betrayed by Typhon, Horus was Crucified, buried for 3 Days, and thus ResurrectedAttis of Phrygia (Greece, ~1200 BCE) was born of the Virgin Nana on December 25, Crucified, placed in a tomb and after 3 Days was Resurrected.
Krishna (India, ~900 BCE) was born of the Virgin Devaki with a Star in the East signalling his coming. He performed Miracles with his Disciples and, upon his death, was Resurrected.
Dionysus (Greece, ~500 BCE) was born of a Virgin on December 25th, was a traveling teacher who performed Miracles such as tuning water into wine. He was reffered to as "the king of kings", "Gods' only begotten Son", "The Alpha and the Omega" and many others, and, upon his death, was Resurrected.
Mithra (Persia, ~1200 BCE) was born of a Virgin on December 25th. He had 12 Disciples and performed Miracles, and, upon his death, was buried for 3 Days and thus Resurrected. He was also referred to as "the Truth", "the Light" and many others.

His name was Jeshua Ben Josef
the first century CE Judaic name "Jeshua", like the modern Jewish name "Joshua" was and is a Greco-Romanized derivation of the early Hebrew name for the first monotheistic god of the Torah, the Five Books of Moses, and the Old Testament of the Bible: "Jahweh"His surname "Ben Josef" refers to his father, Joseph the Carpenter ("Ben Josef" means: "Son of Joseph")
The name of Isis, meaning "Throne" is the Greek version of the name "ist" (pronunced "Usat") meaning "She of the Throne" of Aset, the Ancient Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood, Magic and Fertility, dating back to the Fifth Dynasty [Dynasty V] (2,494 to 2,345 BCE) of the Old Kingdom (2,686 to 2,181 BCE) of Ancient Egypt.
Interestingly, the name for the Ancient Egyptian Sun God, Horus (pronounced "Haru", meaning "Falcon", from the Greek "Horos") (one of the oldest deities in the Ancient Egyptian Religion, god of the Sky ("Harmerty" ["Hor Merti"]: "Horus of the Two Eyes") and of War) is actually pronounced "Har-Si-Ese", which literally means "Horus, Son of Isis".
Isis was impregnated by divine fire. Once Isis knew she was pregnant with Horus, she fled into fled to Khemmis, thought to be located in the Nile Delta Marshlands, to hide from her brother Set, or "Setesh" (pronounced "Seth"; also known as "Setan", or the "Typhonic Beast", a composite of aardvark, donkey and jackal with a canine body and the head of an ass with a curved snout, large flat-topped horns and a forked tail; the god of Darkness, Storms, and Chaos), who she knew would want to kill their son. There, Isis is said to haven given birth to a divine son, Horus.
Many dangers face Horus after birth, and Isis fled with the newborn to escape the wrath of Set.
Isis protected and raised Horus until he was old enough to face Set.
Horus was told by his mother to protect the people of Egypt from Seth (god of the desert). Horus was on the verge of killing Seth, but his mother stopped him. Isis injured Horus, but eventually healed him from a lethal scorpion sting.
Representing the the concept of Salvation is a deity, commonly referred to as "Savior", identified with "Heru-pa-kehered" ("Horus the Child"), and can be depicted as a young Prince overcoming snakes, lions and crocodiles (the inspiration for Saint George and the Dragon); first recorded during the "Amarna Period" (1353 to 13336 BCE) of the "Thutmosid" Eighteenth Dynasty [Dynasty XVIII] (circa ~1550 to circa ~1292 BCE) of Ancient Egypt. The worship of Horus dates back at least to the Predynastic Period of Ancient Egypt.

If you look for God, you'll find God, if you look for prove that God doesn't exist, you will find what you seek. After studying both sides I find that your both NUTS! both sides lie, but after all the lies are gone, and shuffled through, the only thing left are the words of one man that seemed to hold perfect truths, Yeshooah. He was a man, born of a woman, I just like his teachings, Im not religious, im gnostic because I consider my self one who knows. If you knew you would not continue on in this system, and it's sad that once you find the truth, you find death, a carcass, but that is whats there when you look for truth, pain, and a dead carcass , and after you find this carcass you are no longer part of the world, you become a spirit. This is why Jesus Saves, not because you jump in water or wail about with your arms or scream at people that there sinners worthy of death. Love gets you there. And You will know them by there love for one another.

Sodom and Gomorrah burned to ashes and we still listen to the devil, wouldn't it be nice to have Jesus return and bring peace for a 1000 years, people call it "the end" who knows why, it's the beginning where after, when the human race is no longer child minded and can grow in peace in love with no hate, anger, or violence, or even death.

danielcook291984:
According to the New Testament, Jeshua is said to allegedly told his 13 disciples that he would "be with them even unto the ending of the Aeon."
(In the King James Bible version, the word is mistranslated to say the "end of the world")
The word Aeon means "Age"
Jeshua was born in March or April of the Year 6 CE
(the Hebrew word "Bethlehem" literally translates as "House of Bread", the name for the Constellation of Virgo the Virgin)
The Astrological Age of Pisces, the fish, began in the year 4 CE
at the beginning of his ministry at the age of 30, Jeshua is said to have met two fishermen, who became followers of his
(the anthropomorphic symbol of the Constellation of Pisces is the figure of two fish)
he was later followed around by 13 disciples
(there are 13 signs in the Zodiac, from the precession of which the Astrological order of the Ages is derived)
and supposedly one among Jeshua's performed miracles was to feed a multitude with bread and two fish.According to the New Testament, Jeshua told his disciples that the ending of the age would be heralded by "a man bearing a pitcher of water"
The Anthropomorphic symbol for the Constellation of Aquarius, whose astrological age direct follows after that of Pisces, is the figure of a man pouring out container of water)
So Jeshua was correct, in that the symbol of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, the so-called "Jesus Fish" was, indeed, with us right up until the ending of the Age of Pisces. The Astrological Age of Pisces, the fish, symbol of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, came to an end with the turning of the Twentieth Century
The Astrological Age of Aquarius began in the year 2001 CE, or around about approximately a decade or so ago, heralded by the figure of a man bearing a container of water. If Jeshua was ever to come back to us, don't you think it would have been reasonable to expect that it would have been at the time that he said that he would?
that is, "at the end of the Age"
which was the ending of the 19th Century, well over a hundred years ago. - 1 year ago

"Assumption of hierarchal power structure where non exists":
->Men are inherently better than women, and women are inherently inferior to men therefore all men have complete command and control over all women
->Jesus was better than all men, and all men are therefore inferior to Jesus
therefore all men have to answer to Jesus (even twenty centuries after his death)
->Jesus was the son of god, but he was also god himself in human form, but at the same time there is a third "god", making three, but then all three are actually still one and the same, because the third "spirit" is really just god, who is actually jesus, who is the son of god, but not the son of the "spirit", so there are really only two, but father and son are different, but the father is the son, and the son is the father, and the "spirit is inside the son somehow, but not inside the father, because the father is the Spirit, but there is also the father inside the spirit, because the spirit made the son of the father, but the son had no father, because the spirit was the father, but the spirit also existed somehow before the father, and the son has always existed somehow, even before the spirit, because the father always had the son inside the spirit somehow, but god made the spirit, even though the spirit existed before god did, because god had his son inside him all the while, but the spirit still had to create the son who had no father - 1 year ago

When asked by an interviewer how it was that "his" nation should respond to the retributive counterattacks by the Saudi-Yemeni Islamic Muslim Fundamentalists, former American ruler George W. Bush replied that the world's most powerful armed military fighting forces should go to the Middle East and West Asia and "Conduct a Crusade".
Everybody present in the room in the time visible flinched.
and with good reason, the last time, during the 13th century through the 1400's, when European Christian Evangelicals, like Bush, conducted an unprovoked and unjustifiable invasion of the Arabian world,
(the ironically-named Pope Innocent called it a "Crusade", literally meaning "War for the Cross", [a prehistoric pagan Ancient Egyptian symbol of the zodiac used as a brutal method of execution by the polytheistic Ancient Roman Empire])
tens, possibly hundreds, of thousands of Muslim men, women and children were slaughtered en masse in genocidal massacres carried out at the hands of men that could have easily passed for, or perhaps even been, Mr. Bush's ancestors and predecessors. So i have the following message for all Christians, each and and every last one:

Is jesus a hipster? why does he have to judge us? Infact from what I've read he's by far the least judgemental person in the bible. This is what's universally wrong with religion they're always fighting to prove they're better and If you don't except then you're screwed. When I was a child I was raised catholic and went with some friends to their southern baptist church where I was told that i should denounce my faith and join them because it's the right path. I was 8. So these adults were ganging up on an 8 year old to convince him that his family is wrong and that these strangers were right.

We all sin and fall short of the glory of God, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus( the Messiah) our Lord.
And Jesus said in The Gospel of Thomas found in 1945 at Nag hammadi
". Jesus said, "Damn the flesh that depends on the soul. Damn the soul that depends on the flesh." If your soul if filled with LOVE, and you forgive everyone, your flesh can't stop you, Paul tried to tell us in his own way, "not of works" "faith" Faith and Love in your spirit! Call on the Lord, believing God raised Jesus from the dead, and we live forever , we will forget this life, this world. Jesus also said "those who discover the world, find a carcuss and those who find the carcuss, the world is not worthy" and "the kingdom of heaven is inside you and all around you" one Love - 1 year ago

Jeshua Ben Josef of Nazareth was born in March or April of the year 6 CE [AD]; during the reign of the Hebrew King Herod the Great; in the village of Bethlehem in the Roman-occupied province of Judea.
The planet Jupiter appearing in the constellation of Pisces [the fish]; was the signal, to Astrologers (or, in the New Testament, “Wise Men”) from the University in Baghdad, or perhaps the Library of Alexandria in Ptolemaic Egypt; that, as their ancient scriptures for told, the Judaic “Messiah” prophesied in prehistoric ancient Hebrew scriptures had been born somewhere in the promised Holy Land of what is now Israel; and they began a Pilgrimage (either to or from the East, depending on interpretation), bearing gifts of gold, incense, and ointment for the newly born “King”, a descendant of the royal blood line of David and Solomon.
Baptized in the River Jordan by a Priest named John, Jeshua Ben Josef wandered in the wilderness for several months, becoming an iconoclastic Jewish Rabbi, preacher, and “Medicine Man” (Exorcist).
He recruited assistant preachers (“disciples”) from John’s followers, including his wife, a well-to-do woman of the Tribe of Benjamin, named Mary Magdalene.
Turned in by the political authorities at the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem, A Hebrew-Judaic priest and rabbi, He was arrested, tried, and convicted of subversion and sedition by the occupying Romans, and the regional Provincial governor, Pontius Pilate; and was executed on Passover, by Crucifixion (a fairly common practice by the Romans amongst the Empire] along with alongside thieves, murderers, rapists and other common criminals, on the hill of Gol Gotham outside the City of Jerusalem in December of the year 36 CE; his body cut down early on Friday (executions on the Jewish Sabbath are prohibited to this day), and was interred and buried three days later in a cave somewhere in what is now Israel.

The myth of Jesus Christ has its base in the mythology of the Old Mithraism. Mithra was the Greek god Helios, known by the Romans as ” Sol Invictus “. Sol Invictus, the Invincible Sun “, was celebrated the day by the Greek and Roman festival of Saturnalia. Isis was the Ancient Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood and Fertility, dating from 2,686 BCE
The name "jesus" has nothing at all to do with Ancient Egypt whatsoever
"jesus" is just an Anglicized variation on the man's real name "Jeshua" which, like the Jewish name "Joshua" was itself a derivation of the Ancient Hebrew name for their first Monotheistic god: "Jahweh"interestingly, many Egyptologists, as well as "Holy Land" historian scholars have drawn strikingly distinct parallels between Isis, the Ancient Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood, and the Canaanite Fertility Goddess Ishtar, who in the earliest Ancient Hebrew Manuscripts, is frequently and often referred to by the invading Israelites, after their war of conquering and conquest over what is now Israel and Lebanon, as the wife or spouse of their Father-God, Jahweh.

The Human Population of the Planet Earth presently stands at very nearly almost close to Eight Billion.
There roughly estimated to be around about approximately 1 Billion Christians worldwide
so the ratio is more like one in six, or even 1/8However,
the unthinking, blind, and in far too many cases slave-like obedience to which the Fundamentalist zealots, fanatics, and extremists adhere to, as they make up significantly substantial majorities in most Western European Nations, including, most un-fortuitously for all of us involved, our own; makes Christians the most unpredictable, volatile, erratic, and vilence-prone demographic group of so-called supposed "individuals"
(singular Collective groupthink consciousness really defies the whole concept of an individual)
in the known recorded history of human civilization as we know it on this planet Earth.

The Mythology of Isis, Ancient Egyptian Goddess of Motherhood and Fertility, was written down and carved indelibly into stone monuments almost four thousand years BEFORE the fantastical allegorical Myths, Legends and Fables of the ALMOST-entirely fictitious character figure we know today as Jesus Christ of Nazareth were ever set down in what the Pagan-Roman-Empire-Organized Council of Nicea decided by narrowly-close rigged ballot and voice votes would be the chosen texts, mostly fictional fantasy, to be included in the collection of Allegorical fables that has since come to be called the "New Testament Gospels"

Why not trade something to stimulate intellectual thought, like "1984" or "Fahrenheit 451"? I would even settle for a copy of the Zeitgeist series on DVD... It would make a better statement than porn.
Perhaps I just hold out too much hope for the future generations of human society...

This is the second year in a row that they did this. But before you complain, it's supposed to be inflammatory.
The idea being that the bible contains innumerable references to horrific acts of violence or totally depraved, even by my standards, sexual activity.
It raises awareness and it pokes some ribs. Big deal I say.
People are too sensitive about this shit. If I have to drive around my state looking at dumbass Christian signs telling me I'm going to hell or that MLK Jr was a Republican, they can put up with someone actually speaking the truth about their "good book."
Those who disagree are following a double-standard IMO, which isn't uncommon when it comes to this issue.

Exactly. The abortion signs where I live are quite inflamatory. I've always wanted to put up a sign that just says, "The devil wrote the bible to trick you into following him".
Do you think this would get a rise or is it too subtle?

Anything that doesn't praise Christianity on its knees gets a rise from people.
If by subtlety you mean effectiveness, I'd have to say no, the point will be lost 99% of people in their rage.

The same percentage of effectiveness as the publicity stunts that PETA pulls for the same reasons.
Also the same reasons they use those tactics because the attention they grab feeds their ego rather than help their cause which is more important to them

Argon18:
The comparison is apt and the criticism well-received, but it's not really the same issue.
PETA is actually insane compared to most animals rights groups (which is saying something) whereas even these atheists are fairly moderate and really not doing anything that crazy.
Our culture is overly sensitive about religious texts and religious beliefs, be they on the left or the right, be they Muslim, Christian, Jew or Hindu.
Sometimes poking fun at religion, even if it makes people rage at first, in the long run helps the political climate.
George Carlin was best at it, and he was FAR more inflammatory than this stuff is.
-
Saladin

-

-
Saladin:
It's hard to make that comparison to George Carlin since he was doing it for the purposes of entertainment and even the most biting satire doesn't push people because they are an audience that goes expecting what they get.
Groups that use those kinds of tactics like trying to trade bibles for porn or blood soaked demonstrations outside McDonald's are a lot more "in your face" than Carlin ever was since the crowd wasn't paying to see that.
Trading bibles for porn is a fairly moderate gesture and PETA has done some fairly moderate things like the campaigns that show celebrities in photos that reflect the image of "I'd rather go naked than wear fur" but they haven't stopped there since their need for attention gets more and more extreme.
It IS the same issue in that groups that use those tactics are trying to grab attention more than they are trying to help convince people in the worthiness of their cause. The want to feel important and get a reaction out of others to feed their sense of superiority.
Once the need for attention gets to be a much more pressing priority than furthering the goals of the cause, it grows into an addiction. The track record of PETA certainly shows plenty of evidence of that and the same could happen to this group.
Even on Current there are plenty of examples of people that post inflammatory things just to get the attention they crave and it doesn't matter whether they believe them or if they make any sense or not. As long as they get a reaction, that's all they care about.
So it depends on the motivations for "poking fun," how far it will be taken and if it would serve the goals they are trying to achieve or not.

Argon18:
Since there's no atheist equivalent to PETA, I'm not particularly concerned.
I can't say this is as far as it will go, because who knows?
But they're two completely different issues. Most people are atheists because they're rationalists or anti-theists, the latter being the group most likely responsible for stuff like this.
PETA, and animal rights groups in general, must be staffed by overly-sensitive, emotionally reactionary people. It's just the psychology of the issue. Normal, rational people who care about animals don't join PETA because it weirds them out.
It's the same reason that the NRA and the Net Neutrality movement draw completely different crowds and use completely different tactics. They're different people and their motives are not similar, thus their tactics won't be similar.
It's conjecture but I've found it to be true. The Atheist community on youtube, in particular, is self-policing and more interested in truth via argument than promoting the cause.
-
Saladin
-
-

-
Saladin:
That leaves out the fact it's not the cause that counts, since once the addiction to those tactics takes over then the cause becomes secondary and the thrill of grabbing attention is the priority.
It doesn't matter if it is Atheists, PETA, NRA, Net Neutrality as the cause, once those kind of tactics become the primary focus then as Yoda warned "Once they start down the dark path, forever will it darken their destiny"
If the Atheist community is self-policing as you say then hopefully they can talk them out of using these kind of tactics in the future and they won't have to bother with it next year so they can concentrate more on the truth you mentioned

Their point is true though, even though it's inflammatory it's god damn TRUE. Which is the huge consolation here.
And like I said earlier, compared to the kind of shit most people have to put up with from Christians (that is false) this shit is relatively mild.
Pointing out Catholic boy piddling is equally controversial, but it's true too.
Also, since atheists barely stage protests, I highly doubt anything will become "addictive." I'm not buying the narrative. PETA is structured for controversy, it thrives on it, and it's always been that way. It's not something that developed over time, the community was formed with sort of a buddy-buddy bond with ALF.
