Because he is a hypocritical fake. Ethanol subsidies anyone? Pollution rates in the worst cities higher during the Clinton administration than the Bush administration. Energy use higher than the average American's.

I don't support hypocritical fakes. That would be those who believe everything spoonfed to them by those who they want to believe to suit their own biases and jealousies. At least he is man enough to admit his mistakes. And please, comparing anything to war criminal Bush only reveals the true nature of your comment. Al has done more in his life and his work especially after not being under the political thumb to raise awareness and action of environmental issues. And regardless of your meanspiritedness, he continues to garner my love and respect for it.

If you support Gore, you support a hypocritical fake. You are free to love and respect anyone you want to. But, why not call a spade a spade, a heart a heart, and a club a club? At least he is man enough to admit his mistakes? Please, only when called to the carpet for it. What about all the mistakes in his movie? ow many superfund sites were cleaned up while he was the VP? He supported removing Saddam by force and called for it several times while in Congress and the White House. His raising of environmental awareness has distorted the issue through fabricationa and exxageration and lined his pockets handsomely. That is why he supported ethanol mandates. How convenient to regret it after stuffing his pockets with lobbyist cash. I am not meanspirited to point out his fake hair and botox or his record. It's indicative of how he seems himself.

I find it amazing people always get on this site spewing out the same litany we heard on Fox News about him while being perfectly content to let others get away with much worse. Talk about hypocritical fakes. And yes, it was meanspirited to do this in this thread. To me it sounds like you're jealous, and regarding his recent environmental work especially, downright wrong and unsubstantiated. But of course, you also have the right to rant about him repeating the same talking points we have all heard before. Again, it changes nothing as far as I am concerned. I know the past, I know the present, and I know about the interests working then and now to discredit the man. And you repeat their BS to a tee.

Having a difference of opinion with you is not mean spirited. Trying to associate me with Bush and Fox News, neither one of which I support, and using terms like "rant" is an effort to discredit what I said without dealing with the actual points I made. If they were refutable, you could have done that instead. The truth will set us free.

Yes Sam, we humans live in an imperfect world don't we? So Gore isn't among the saints and I rather imagine neither are you. Whatever 'sins' he may have committed against your concept of perfection, let us hope that his desire to put our world back into a healthier balance will more than make up for his failures.

While I can appreciate some of your sentiment, for me it's not about perfection, or desire, or intention. It's about action.

So , why be so callus and post such opinions on a thread about valentines ? Say you were at a valentine party , would you start on such there ? ( Afterwards , would you expect to be invited to next years' party ?

While I certainly did not intend to hurt anyone's feelings (and the notion that someone's feelings may have been hurt by the truthful words I spoke is a different issue) the truth is the truth. I think if we follow truth, regardless of where it leads us, we will be set free. If you prefer that the truth about this person not be put forth on a thread about Valentines, I can respect that opinion.

Again, nothing I said was disputed as being un-factual. The only dispute was that I said them to begin with. So perhaps it is a matter of PC versus reality.

If I were at a Valentine's day party and Jan was the host, I would defer and not bring up the subject. But if we were guests, I would probably bring it up. Being invited back next year would not be a concern, although I could see how a "true believer" may take offense at my words.

I can see you are a true believer that your opinion is right . There is a time and place for all things , for instance , the truth as YOU see it . Knowing WHEN that is is a social skill worth having . Even better , knowing HOW to pull that off with some class . That will earn you some respect .

Again, neither you nor Jan took issue with what I said only that I said it to begin with. I did not state anything that was not true.

OMG. My first boyfriend watched Jimmy Swaggert and Jerry Faldwell and believed that they were actually decent men. It made my head explode. I know exactly what you mean about choosing a mate when you are young without a thorough background check. :D
