Yes, “Mad Love” is another romantic comedy, but wait! Before you run down the street poking toothpicks in your eyes screaming “It’s Valentine’s day, for gosh sakes, doesn’t anyone care,” before you do that, there is good news.
Yes, the show’s basic premise is as hackneyed as any romantic comedy. (For the record, that is not the good news.) Boy meets girl cute. Boy loses girl. Boy wins girl back...maybe.
But “Mad Love” -- and, for the record, this is the good news -- is elevated by a very appealing cast, smart writing and a slight though interesting twist on this old concept. The twist: their friends.
