SAINT PAUL, MN - Congresswoman Michele Bachmann (R-MN) is in hot water today after reports surfaced that she farted in a crowded mall elevator and refused to apologize. Bachmann was exiting an impromptu anti-Obamacare speech at the Maplewood Mall Talbots Wednesday afternoon, when she boarded an elevator and, as one witness described, “let one go.”

“It was just a normal quiet elevator ride, and then all the sudden, she let one go in front of all of us,” said Brenda Adamas, 32, of Minneapolis.

“It was like two big ol’ trumpet toots, followed by a squeak. It smelled like eggs. I thought maybe she had some kind of infection. I didn’t want my kids breathing it in,” said David Scarvo, 43, of Saint Paul, who was spending the day shopping with his three young daughters when he spoke up to Bachmann. “I really wouldn’t have said anything, but she was looking around at us, like she was checking our reactions. It was kinda creepy, to be honest.” According to Scarvo, Bachmann became defensive when he spoke up. "Rather than apologize like a normal person, she said something like, 'No, I will not excuse myself. I'm an American, and I excuse myself to no one.'"

Bachmann got off the elevator after going down one floor, but witnesses claim that her gas lingered for several more floors. When asked about the incident at a press conference later that afternoon, Bachmann replied, “I will never apologize. God created America, the land of the free, so we could apologize to no one. If anything, I think the people of that elevator owe me and God an apology for trying to inject shame into what God gave me.”
