Pee-wee Herman is one of those comics you either dig -- or you don’t. There’s not much middle ground on the matter of a grown man in an undersized suit acting infantile for yuks.
And yes, yuks are what Paul Reubens is after, as his material has far more in common with the gentle humor of the Sunday funnies than it does with Seinfeldian irony, the hyperactive mayhem of Robin Williams or the wiseacre antics of any SNL member.
