The 'Social Network' director wants Daniels to play a prominent news anchor in his new series, 'More As the Story Develops'
Veteran actor Jeff Daniels is currently in talks to star in Aaron Sorkin's new HBO pilot, tentatively titled More As the Story Develops.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show is set behind the scenes of a nightly cable news show and will follow a similar format to Sorkin's previous shows, Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip and Sports Night.

Deadline reports that if all goes according to plan, Daniels will play news anchor Will McCallister, a famous television figure with Anderson Cooper- or Brian Williams-like prominence. He is intelligent and talented, but also happens to be very difficult to work with.

To learn more about the world he plans to recreate, Sorkin has recently spent time with newsmen Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews. Sorkin's new project will be his first for cable television, as all of his previous television shows -- Sports Night, The West Wing, and Studio 60 -- aired on broadcast networks.

I partially disagree, I think that Jeff Daniels can act.

However, it really is not his kind of role. Honestly, if this director wants Jeff Daniels to play Keith Olbermann, then I bet he'd also think it's a good idea to have Keanu play Ghandi.
