Scientists Close to Creating Time Travel

Researchers say this theory does have a down side that they are unsure if Higgs particle or also called as Higgs singlet actually exists and if the machine can produce it. According to a report by AP, the LHC is supposed to create the Higgs Boson particle and if it does that the Higgs singlet may also appear. Higgs Boson is also called the God Particle but was never supposed to be there without its Singlet.
Scientists say that the singlet may be able to jump through space and time and travel through a hidden dimension and re-enter our dimension forward or backward in time. Graduate fellow Chui Man said that using a singlet to travel through time avoids all the major paradoxes which include things such as things that will let you travel through time and change things in the past.
However Scientists said that time travel was limited and it might not be possible atleast in near future for man to be able to travel back in time. Simple tasks such as sending SMS Text messages into past can be achieved with the singlet.

Scientists close to creating time travel?
This article said the Higgs particle may or may not exist and if it does exist they may or may not be able to send it through time.
I hate to be a Debbie downer but that does not sound 'close' to me.And if Text Messages could be sent through time our great grandchildren would have sent most of us winning lotto numbers already.

Yes, the artical clearly has a misleading title. Further more it contradicts itself:
"using a singlet to travel through time avoids all the major paradoxes which include things such as things that will let you travel through time and change things in the past."
"Simple tasks such as sending SMS Text messages into past can be achieved with the singlet"
As you pointed out a text message to the past could change the future, so I don't know how they can justify point number 1. The other points you mention are also valid. I think these guys might just be making stuff up at this point.

I bet we are the only dimension in the universe that does not have time travel. Or worse we might be the exile dimension. The dimension that gets sent all political and corporate sociopaths.

If they can send this matter into the past, how would we know it? Wouldn't we have ready observed something we could not identify, and how would we have known it was from the future?
Let's do the time warp again!

Sweeeeeet! We will be able to send all the cons & baggers back to the "good ol' days" they are constantly yearning for while the rest of us can PROGRESS in dealing with our present situation so that we may have an actual chance at having a future.

The idea of sending a SMS message back in time in an intriguing one.
I don't know how the recipient would know what what to do with it; (you know the phenomena of ignoring the incongruent image of a gorilla streaking across your field of vision, yes?)
But, like the Mikado, I have a little list,...it isn't very long... - 1 year ago

It's strange, though. The supposition involves higgs boson, and while I'm hardly a particle theorist, I'm not sure how that translates into a text message. It also suggests that because only higgs can be sent -as far as we know- that it avoids the conundrum of altering the past to affect the future. And wouldn't the entire purpose of sending a message to your past self be to indeed change the past? And why haven't I heard from myself yet? Would it kill me to call on occasion?

As I read the article, I find the answer is 'no'. And even if they did manage to accomplish sending some higgs boson into the past, I'm not sure they would even be able to tell.

Haha, this article is pretty funny. I mean, the awesomeness of physics aside, these scientists think they can send this particular type of matter created by the LHC into the past. But, they're also not sure that the LHC actually produces this matter, or if it even exists at all.

"Scientists Close to Creating Time Travel...?" Hmmm... define close.
By close do you mean
- closer than before we knew the earth revolved around the sun or
- closer than when we thought the world was flat?IMHO, this is pure exaggeration. And as such, more appropriately for the folks at FIXED News, not CurrentTV.

True ...true. But Higgs particles or no Higgs particles... for now, TIME TRAVEL should probably remain a fantasy. If for no other reason than mankind simply hasn't matured enough as a species to manage THE NOW, much less the THEN.
I mean, it's the year 2011 and yet we find way to many in the United States supporting powerful, secretly funded political idiots who are hell bent on turning the clock back to the previous century.
