Hood Watch Media CEO|Atlanta, Georgia April 25, 2011| The identity of the baby featured on the cover of Notorious B.I.G.'s debut album Ready to Die has remained one of the unsolved mysteries in hip-hop lore for 17 long years. Some speculated it was in fact a childhood flick of Christopher Wallace, while others suspected it was the rapper's own son or one of Diddy's kids as the probable posing infant in question. All of those votes however have now proven to be wrong. Presently almost 18 yrs old, Bronx teenager Keithroy Yearwood has come forward to confirm that he is the centerpiece of the iconic album cover.
The discovery became public thanks to an interview by The New York Daily News which was released earlier today. The news comes almost two weeks after hip-hop fans recognized the 14th anniversary of BIG's passing on March 9th. Up until this point the identity of the child model was unknown by all including Diddy himself who when posed with the question last year, simply knew that the child was provided by a modeling agency.
According to the interview Yearwood’s family only received $150 for the two hour gig that resulted in the first image seen by the 3.3 million listeners who purchased the classic 1994 LP. Although that doesn't seem like much of a check compared to most that Diddy writes, the teen isn't looking for any financial gain but rather only seeks to clarify that he is in fact the RTD Baby.
