      I understand and your welcome I think we have all had moments where we flirt with the Libertarian Ideas of the past , but putting into practice in modern times as far as corporations regulating themselves and no taxes I can't see any point or positive gain except for the rich elites and I'm sure we are all agreed in the fact that they have enough!     • I know internet evangelists love to think otherwise, but the bottom line is that this video is right, even though the people he's describing aren't really Libertarians.

      Believe it or not, we've not only had Libertarians run for President on major party labels (Goldwater as a Republican for instance), they've actually run the fucking country before (Coolidge and Ford are good examples).

      In all cases, they either prove to be completely useless or corporate shills, or both.

      The sad (sad for you anyway, I think it's hilarious) reality is that Libertarians in their "true" forms (be it anarchist or minarchist) are less than 1% of the population and all of your citizen allies are either Diet Republicans or assholes like the Teabaggers.

      I won't bother to tell you you're wrong, because that's pretty much a waste of time until you can understand why the axioms of your movement are inapplicable, all I'll say is that no one fucking agrees with you, and they'd much rather stay well the hell away.

      If it makes you feel better, you can think of them all as "statist sheeples" while you drive on our publicly funded roads, ok?

      Though it is true that the government it the cause of problems and is not the solution to every problem, it is not the cause of all problems and it is force behind the solution to quite a few problems. You are painting the whole picture as black and white, and although black and white are a part of what there is to paint, there is a lot of gray in between that you are missing.

      Well, that's getting a little fringy- like the video describes.

      In reality, the government IS the answer to SOME problems, just as it is the cause of OTHER problems.

      The Shanklinites want to eliminate all government, and that is nonsense; it ignores the reason why humanity invented government in the first place.

      Government, like all human inventions, is a work in progress, and needs to evolve. Tossing it out is like getting rid of the Medical profession because cancer still exists.

      There's no reason to take this personally, in my opinion you're mistaken in calling yourself a Libertarian, because you're not.

      Everyone should be skeptical of government and, in a better world, you could call yourself a conservative. Back in say, the 1960's, that would have been the appropriate label for you.

      But as far as I can tell, outside of Shanklinism or Randian nonsense, there is no coherent definition of Libertarianism.

      That's exactly what I'm talking about though, you don't even understand why the axiom is wrong.

      Let me ask you a question and, hopefully, it will lead you to understand why this entire notion is so annoying to other people.

      Who, in all seriousness, doesn't believe in life, liberty and property? Seriously, who? The entire crux of political issues in the United States is not WHETHER we should have those rights, it's to what -extent- those rights should exist. Even Libertarians argue within these grounds.

      I mean, given that definition, everyone is essentially a Libertarian, which makes the definition useless.

      It either means Shanklin Mike or it means pretty much nothing at all. Because no one is about to come out and say they support death, slavery and theft.

      All you've done here is extrapolated out a (valid) criticism that doesn't apply to you, and then taken it personally.

      I'm sure you don't agree with these people anymore than we do, so why take it as an insult to you when we go after people like Mike?

      If you're really leaving, I'm sad to see you go. You're one of the most valuable members on this site. I hope something like this didn't make you feel unwelcome here.

I've never had one negative comment and I sell to who I want when I want not many artists can say that throughout all of history sir because art good or bad is a personal journey relative to each viewer since the cave drawings . if you encounter something in the art that displeases you don't blame the artist it's not always what he see's that is important is it... so good , bad they are irrelevant dear sir , thats all just a matter of opinion and yours sir is the minority of one (painting is 3-d and made from precious and semi-precious stones , gold,pearl,Pink Tiffany diamonds,ruby,garnet,emeralds, and more ...this is all the same painting evolving with dark and light a piece that changes every time it's viewed never before accomplished it also changes optically when turned illusions abound "the alchemist's" works w/chromadepth glasses for free on your computer because my work transcends computer digital 3-d technologies ) don't attack art cause your angry Im not the enemy.

      The worth of my art is not based in monetary gains anyway no good art is... I get standing ovations and fan mail every day I answer every one personally I talk to every viewer I have long time collectors and new clients every single day and I don't show in public galleries who does that and I live in Cincy not New York not Paris not LA not UK lowly little Cincinnati Ohio I'm not convinced you wouldn't try to buy a piece either if you saw it in person you'd ewwww and ahhhhh just like every other person your not so different as you'd like to think get the glasses and take a look it'll be cooler than anything you've ever seen before I promise cross my heart

    • Regardless of the denyers, Idaho is a Libertarian run state.That's one of the reasons we rank one step above the lowest state , Miss. , in beneficial social programs, like education, child care, disabled and elderly care, to name a couple. We are top in ignorance and good ole boys and all due to a Libertarian mind set. Just listen to our Governer for a while for the epitome of Libertarianism. These people are major ass-visors and are running not only Idaho, but the so-called Tea Party as well. Despicable wretches.
