    • This has happened in a few areas and there are some church's that can not agree if it is ok to marry same sex couples. The Farce here is that religion has rules. I tell everyone that if you don't like the rules, then don't play the game. However, church's can't agree on if there is a Trinity or not, if you should practice religion on Saturday or not, and it certainly has it's own inside fighting of same sex marriage and relationships.

For the most part, Christianity abides by the rules that marriage is for procreation. Procreation can only happen between a man and a woman. so, this implies that same sex couples can't marry, and one can go further and say that same sex coupling goes against the bible.

For the Methodist minister or any minister that decides to go AGAINST the church doctrine, if they get fired or in trouble, then they have to face their music.

If I believed in something, and you came and told me that I had to change my beliefs for you, well I would either change my beliefs to yours, or else I would choose to continue to believe in what I believe in.

People are confusing religion with rights. There is a reason why the constitution asks for a separation of the law and religious beliefs. It is taking a while, but more and more religion is slowly being parted from our everyday lives. But this is for a different discussion and debate.

Bottom line is this: if you go into your job and decide to work in a tank top and they fire you or suspend you, well you may believe that you are entitled to wearing a tank top, but the company that made up the dress rules are the ones who have the power there. If you want to wear a tank top to work, find a job that will let you do that. If you want a religion that will marry same sex couples, find one that will, or else make one up. But don't complain about the rules of the game, because frankly, no one is demanding you to play the game.

    • This is the way it should be..don't ask don't tell..and nothing will happen..as long as you don't put it out their...then things will be fine..but thats not the way things are when it comes to your sex life.....keep it to yourself..who cares what happens in your sex life..it's nobodies business unless you make it that....and the church has no business asking such things....and since they are asking..something like this must of happened before in the churches past........

There is more to this issue than just identifying yourself with a specific group. Marriage brings certain privileged rights that only Hetro-couples can get. You can live with your lover for 20 years and if that person dies, because same sex marriage is not legally recognized, the survivor has not rights to the deceased properties. A new agenda that I just heard about turns out to be very compelling. Same sex couples that are legal aliens. Hetro couples get married and the partner can not be deported unless some foul play is found out.

Your life partner can be deported at any time. They do not get citizenship because they married someone who is a citizen. Even if i was religiously against people being gay, this problem transcends religious beliefs.

    • Thanks for posting this, MauricelLacunza. I saw this on my local news here in WI. This is why I feel organized religion is a farce. Amy is following the religious scriptures more than the religious leaders are, which speaks volumes about the hypocracy of these religious pretenders. It's about power and control. Not about pure religious teaching. Kudos to Amy for not signing that ridiculous agreement and for vowing she would do it again! In the meantime, the punishment seems to be more directed at Amy's flock, who will be without her sermons for 3 weeks. I guess in the meantine they get to talk amongst themselves.

Thank you Leen. I wish that the jury had given her 20 minutes though. It is quite disturbing that she was brought up on charges in the first place. The jury could have sent a strong message that the rules and policies are not golden. And good for Amy...she needs a bigger pen to sign the next certificate! But you know that there is a faction in the Methodist church called Reconciling Ministries Network that is trying to challenge the traditional Methodist church. Maybe the Meths will figure it out.

You reminded me of an SNL skit a long time ago. I think it was coffee hour with Judy Bloomstein or something like that. She told her guests, "I'll give you a topic to discuss amongst yourselves. The Mormon tabernacle. It's neither Mormon nor a tabernacle. Discuss."

Thats right!! She got verklempt!! I remember it all now! Isn't that funny how our brains can pick up on two words and bring up such vivid recall and memory! More important is that it was funny and timely. Even now...years later. Ok, a lot of years. Alright, three decades ago. Ok, whata ya want from me? Fine! I was alive back then! Haha!

    • Well good for her, but the church does have the right to say they do not accept gays, that be said we gays have the right to not accept Methodists. And if we dont decorate then I ask you who will, our hags, and trust me most of the time they are meaner than we are when comes to hate. Just ask one of my hags, some drunk fool said something he shouldn't have, took a couple of swings and next thing you know we are in the ER getting his tooth removed from her foot. The best part when the cops heard the whole story they said he started the fight, and if any charges were pressed against her, then they would have to charge him with aggravated assault. Made me giggle, but she is always good at getting out of things. I'm still worried that dirty little hic might have had a disease or something though.
